Participates in direct patient care under a Registered Nurse Supervision. Responsible for setting up patient rooms appropriately. Maintains the unit as a clean, safe and comfortable environment to include patient room, lounge, and all other work areas. Maintain equipment and supplies. Interacts in a professional manner with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers according to the performance standards. Attendance of required department meetings.

Patient Care Assistant- Calhoun County Mental Health 2006-2008

Assisted mental patients with everyday activities in which they could not perform by themselves on a daily basis. Charted behavior changes and vitals on patients. Answered phones and directed calls to correct physicians. 12 hour shifts, worked every other weekend.

Patient Care Assistant- UAB Highlands 2018- present

Assist patients with daily activities that they can not perform on their own due to recent surgery. Help answer phones and call lights. Assist with feeding and giving daily baths. Work as a team to insure patient safety and satisfaction. Make beds, trained in venipunture- draw blood for labs and stick for blood sugars throughout the shift. Also collects stool and urine samples when needed.
