Capstone Design

o Designed and built a UAV with respect to a given request for proposal determined by Dr. Valasek of Texas A&M.

o Go pro footage of the aircraft can be seen here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdOcms6dku8&index=7&list=LLiFqD2G Mr553Wa8QYk9jPQA&t=86s

Optimization of Airplane Wing Structure

o Used ABAQUS and Python to create code for optimization of structures

Solution of 2-D Orthotropic Heat Diffusion with Given Boundary Conditions Using Finite Difference Methods with Convergence Analysis

o Used Matlab and knowledge of the finite difference method as well as convergence analysis to code a solution to the heat diffusion of a plate with heat being introduced through a boundary condition.

o A hole with variable size was also introduced to examine behavior of convergence in real life scenarios, not everything is a perfect square all the time!

LIDAR Robotics

o Used Python and LIDAR concepts to create a robot for demonstration of LIDAR principles to faculty.

Wing Design

o Used ABAQUS and finite element analysis to optimize wing support.

Shock Wave Behavior Analysis

o Had to create code to analyze shock waves created by angles surfaces and find a the best way to turn supersonic flow Analysis of a Turbofan Engine

o Used theory from coursework to find the mass flow rate needed from an engine to obtain a certain performance from a theoretical Tomahawk missile engine.

Labs:

o Shockwave analysis using Schleiren Imaging

o Bimetallic Beam Thermal Expansion Analysis

o Analysis of Torsional Dynamics Plant System

o Vibration Analysis of a Small Electric Motor

“The Ethical Constraints on Designers and Engineers of Drones Due to Terrorism” (2018)

o A paper on the ethical problems that surround engineers when designing technologies that can be used for harm by terrorists with specific focus on drone engineers.
