Experience
Vicon Industries – Embedded Software Engineer – 2016 to 2017
Developed and debugged embedded code in C and Javascript in embedded Linux used for digital security cameras. Code is checked into Subversion and is built regularly using Hudson for Continuous Integration.
Cisco Systems – Principal Engineer – 2006 to 2015
Designed, developed, and debugged embedded C code using uCOS RTOS for DirecTV Set-Top Boxes for TV/video with Broadcom BCM503, MIPS, and ST 5528 microprocessors. Involved in a team of engineers to develop firmware for DirecTV and Cox. Debugging tools include Lauterbach and ST Micro debuggers. Involved in Agile as well as Waterfall project methodologies
In a Linux system, installed, maintained, and configured Jenkins/Hudson Continuous Integration system for performing daily builds for C/Java codeset for set-top boxes. Researched and installed Jenkins and SonarQube plug-ins as needed. Installed, upgraded, and maintained SonarQube server for static code analysis. Maintained Linux server that hosted these tools. Controlled user access for IBM ClearCase and ClearQuest systems. Trained and assisted fellow engineers in usage of such tools. Created a build tree for on-demand daily building with appropriate parameter passing. Developed Python scripts within Jenkins to process build output files for use by other tools. Developed Perl scripts for output file manipulation. Build artifacts were stored in Artifactory, an artifact repository. Modified MySQL database for configuring Continuous Integration system.
AMI Enterprises - Consultant – 2002 to 2006
Developed and maintained website used for e-commerce and online merchandising. Streamlined operations for processing and shipping online orders.
Western Digital Corporation – Senior Principal Engineer – 2001 to 2002
Developed, debugged, and maintained C-like scripts that communicate with Hard Disk Drives to validate functionality. Scripts included random commands to exacerbate the hard drive in an effort to make it fail.
SafeNet Corporation – Principal Engineer – 2000 to 2001
Led a small team of engineers to develop firmware for PCI cards that encrypt and decrypt RSA data for Internet transmission security using C as well as assembly language for the IBM PowerPC microprocessor. Developed firmware schedules, Requirements Documents, and Design Documents as part of project development. Reviewed documents with peers prior to implementation. Used IBM’s RISCWatch debugger as a debug tool. Worked closely with chip and board designers from project inception through final product. Participated in team discussion and decision-making during project development and debug. Developed alternative methods in firmware to work around ASIC deficiencies. Met with OEM customers prior to developing OEM products.
Western Digital Corporation – Senior Principal Engineer – 1995 to 2000
Developed/debugged/tested firmware in C and assembly language to be compiled and run in an Intel embedded environment. Involved in a team of firmware and software engineers to develop a project beginning from marketing requirements up until final product test and debug. Generated product development specifications such as Software Requirements Documents and Engineering Design Documents. Debugged code using In-Circuit Emulators (ICE). Optimized code for maintainability by ensuring usage of structures. Mentored junior engineers. Enforced usage of source control for code development.
