Director of Employee Experience – Human Resources shared services lead, 2015 – Feb 2018

Reported to the SVP of Human Resources in the Americas Region with responsibility of the overall work culture and engagement for more than 40,000 employees amongst 210 hotels in the United States, Canada and Latin America. Accountable for leading a shared services team charged with advancing organizational culture and the employee experience.

Team Leadership – Led a team of 4 direct reports in a shared service model supporting hotel leadership through Human Resources consulting services, vendor contracts, talent management, learning and development, legal compliance, and HR analytics.

Talent Reputation – Advanced Hyatt Hotels rank from 78 to 9 (2015-18) on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work for in the U.S. Additionally led the effort that resulted in ranking 1st for the inaugural Great Places to Work for All: Best Workplaces in Chicago.

HR Strategy – Collaborated with the Americas Region task force to install an area HR shared services operating model projected to reduce costs by $17M over a 5 year period.

HR Technology – Provided consultation for $30M Workday RFP presented to senior leadership as a business case supporting implementation of a global HCM system.

Area Director of Human Resources, Central, 2012 – 2015

Reported jointly to the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis, the SVP of Human Resources for the Hyatt Americas Region, and serving in a consultative role to General Managers and Human Resources teams at hotels in Indianapolis, Columbus, Cleveland, Minneapolis and Pittsburgh. Led Human Resources service delivery strategy, change management for corporate initiatives, high level employee issue resolution and talent development.

Talent Acquisition – Created selection@hyatt, a talent acquisition training program delivered to Human Resources teams at 120 locations in the U.S. and Canada.

Labor Relations – Guided operational leaders and hotel employees through an intense multi-year union organizing campaign in order to keep business operations functioning at a high level.

HR Compliance – Led 12 comprehensive Human Resources team functional audits at various locations throughout the U.S. Served as the Affirmative Action lead for 8 hotels in multiple states.

Compensation Strategy – Developed and provided consultation to HR leaders on annual compensation strategies for both exempt and non-exempt wage plans.

Reported to the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency Indianapolis and accountable for 3 direct reports delivering Human Resources services including talent acquisition, learning, leadership development, succession planning, work culture, engagement compensation, benefits administration, payroll, and community relations activities for over 200 FTEs.

Employee Engagement – Implemented engagement strategies with department managers and colleagues to improve the Gallup Q12 grand mean from 4.29 to 4.57.

Talent Strategy – Designed and executed talent acquisition and development strategies in collaboration with operational leaders to deliver exceptional customer experiences for high profile events including Super Bowl, NCAA Final Four, and the Indianapolis 500.

Legal Compliance – Successfully defended an OSHA on-site investigation, OFCCP audits, EEOC charges and Unemployment claims.
