OBJECTIVE: Fulltime position in biomedical engineering with a focus on design.

EDUCATION

Worcester Polytechnic Institute Worcester, MA, December 2017

Bachelor of Science: Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering

INTERNSHIPS

Memorial Sloan-Kettering New York, NY, May 2014-August 2014

Summer Intern in the medical physics research department.

Compiled data on the battery life of the RFID tracking tags they used to manage the location of hospital equipment.

Analyzed the measured data with statistical tests to determine the accuracy of the battery tracking program that came with the devices.

Suggested improvements and further testing that could be done to reconcile the discrepancy.

Began a self-governed summer project on prototyping a prosthetic hand.

PROJECTS

Accurate Prosthetic Hand MQP WPI, September 2016-April 2017

Head designer and project coordinator for the project.

Lead a team that developed a platform for the development of highly dexterous, human biomimetic robotic hand with the end goal of creating a highly dexterous prosthesis using a blend of machine design, CAD tools, 3D printing, and robotics.

Created prosthetic platform that was EEG and EMG controllable with room for thermal and pressure controls in future work.

Presented project at the WeRob2017 Conference hosted by TIRR Memorial Hospital in Houston, TX.

Smart Materials and Applications WPI, August 2017 – December 2017

Designed an emergency rescue device for traumatic, penetrative cranial injuries utilizing PTC Creo.

Designed the device to be relatively cheap and easily usable by utilizing affordable materials for prototype manufacture.

Developed silicone prototype as proof of mechanical concept.

Cellular Engineering Lab WPI, October 2017 – December 2017

Investigated proper cell culture methods and cell aging and senescence.

Determined using methods such as cell counting and cell re-plating that population doubling as a more reliable metric for determining the age of cells in a culture as opposed to counting the number of passages.

Biomedical Design WPI, August 2017 – October 2017

Worked with a team to design and prototype a simple, easily sterilized device for the purpose of maximized collection of hematopoietic stem cell rich placental blood from a birthed placenta.

Biomechanics Lab WPI, January 2016 – March 2016

Analyzed the different types of moments and forces experienced by the legs of a martial artist when performing a front snapping kick versus a front thrusting kick.

Used motion tracking devices and a force plate were used to obtain the necessary data.

Determined the front thrusting kick delivered higher forces, but the front snapping kick generated higher impulses.

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE

Lime Rock Park Catering Lakeville, CT, 2015-2017

Connections Program Assistant WPI, August 2014

Leadership and Involvement:

Ambassador, the Harlem Educational Activities Fund (HEAF) Harlem, NY, 2013

Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity (Judicial Board Representative, Bystander and Project Ethos Trained, Interim Secretary for AXP, Historian) WPI, 2014-2016

SKILLS

Software: PTC Creo, PTC Mathcad Prime, MATLAB, Working Model, PMKS, Microsoft Office.

Lab Techniques: Wet lab training, cell culture, animal wet lab training.

Equipment: 3D printers, power tools, power supplies, digital multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
