September 2015 to present:
TSA Canine Training Instructor: As a Training Instructor and Evaluator I am involved with training, distributing, and evaluating TSA explosive detection canines in support of CTC (Canine Training Center). Identifying processes for training and evaluating explosives detection canines from initial training through advanced levels of explosives detection training. Key member and asked to provide problem solving techniques and procedures for canines assigned to our team before possibly being eliminated from the TSA canine program. Due to my problem solving techniques I am now assigned to the problem solving team, ensuring the all canines are given every opportunity to become TSA canines. Traveled and assisted with annual evaluations for Law Enforcement/ Office of Security Operations (OSO) canine teams assigned to Department of Homeland Security explosive detection canine unit. Volunteered to be assigned to new project (pre-train team) to assist with the development of canines with behavioral, environmental, and fear issues, and help reduce attrition of TSA canines in the training courses and in service. Selflessly acquired more training locations, by going out and speaking to managers/supervisors of different organizations to use their facilities to help expose canines to different training environments that they will encounter in the field. Continue to assist in publishing procedures and policies and providing guidance for training plans for multiple canines. Work with and distribute explosives in the training and support of canine explosives detection training. Ensure proper adherence to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) procedures for the inspection, handling, storage, safety, and security of all explosives that are used for training of detection canines.
October 2013 to September 2015: Military Working Dog Trainer
I served as lead training instructor, evaluator, technical advisor, and recognized authority for the assessment, initial training, and selection of all potential Military Working Dogs (MWDs) in support of the Department of Defense (DoD), and other Federal/Law Enforcement Agencies. I assisted in the assessing of potential detector/patrol dogs for procurement and utilization within the DoD dog program. I provided technical advice and guidance to management and other senior staff regarding canine utilization in the enforcement of laws and regulations. As Lead Trainer I assisted in developing plans and procedures related to the utilization of detection/patrol canines in preventing the introduction of explosives and other prohibited items/personnel in facilities. Seen as one of the top trainers to troubleshoot patrol (Obedience, Bite work and Building search) issues that arose from other teams. Cut down time in patrol certified canines that was allowed by trainers by 40 days allowing canines to be sent to the field sooner to help with the MWD mission. I was sent on 2 procurement trips for the DoD Military Working Dog program as a civilian. Assisted with the procurement and testing of over 300 dogs from various European countries to be trained in support of all DoD agencies. Supervise the day-to-day training and advanced training of detection and patrol dogs that are used to support the DoD Military Working Dog program. Led my team that was comprised of all service members from different branches; with my abilities to instruct and listen which led our team to being recognized as team of the year for 2014. Initiate comprehensive written reports associated with procurement and training of MWDs. Assisted in rewrite of assessing canine training programs, provided recommendations for the development and improvement of explosive detector/patrol dog training course products and curriculum. Ensure proper adherence to Department of Defense (DoD) and Air Force (AF) procedures for the inspection, handling, storage, safety, and security of all explosives/drugs that are used for training of detector dogs. Volunteered to assist in the teaching of advance bite work utilizing a bite suit for 8 local law enforcement canine handlers. Lead multiple MWD demonstration for high ranking visitors and guest.

08/1/2011- 07/1/2013: Mountain Protective Services, LLC
As a K-9 Personal Protection Specialist/Trainer: I have been through extensive personal protection training through International Training Groups’ advance protection course. Through my training and experience I am able to apply my techniques at a moment’s notice. I provided all aspects of protection, physical and electronic security operations for a high profile client and family. I provided detection sweeps of buildings, residential and vehicles for client. Assisted in the security assessment process, provided close protection for client: Ensure client/family remains safe and secure at all times in all environments. Escort, transport and travel with client maintaining a protective posture. Drive the actual route the Executive will travel. Note road conditions (paved, potholes, road construction), note hospital and locations. Performed surveillance/counter-surveillance functions when assigned. Assisted in coordinating necessary logistics applicable to personal security. Protect high-value assets both in-store locations as well as in transit. I currently have my Carry Concealed Weapon in the state of Ohio. I received my K9 Trainer certification through Al Gill’s K9 Police Academy. I certified in all aspects of canine training to include detection, article search, area search, patrol (attack work both on sleeve and bite suit), suspect tracking and obedience. I have assisted and set up countless training detection/patrol problems to ensure our canine’s proficiency. I have also assisted with the assessments of over 10 different federal, state and local agencies while going through state certification. With my civilian as well as my past military training, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and skills, and still continue to learn.
12/1/2008- 08/22/2011: Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas
Working as a Security Forces Military Working Dog Handler I conducted multiple explosive searches to ensure the safety and protection of The President, Vice President, and other Distinguished Visitors. Certified my first narcotic and patrol MWD that was released from the DoD program and was given to our unit as a project canine. After multiple training session with this MWD in patrol work he eventually became a great patrol narcotics MWD and retired from the program after 9 years. As an Explosive detection handler I swept multiple venues and vehicles entering the installation. I also responded to multiple explosive threats and ensure all areas were secure. As a Narcotics Dog Handler, I conducted over 300+ Health and Welfare Inspections for members of the Armed Forces and their family members. While deployed as a MWD Handler to Afghanistan, in a period of 4 months I conducted various patrol/detection missions throughout different Forward Operating Bases and Combat Out-Posts. I also assisted in training MWDs while deployed; as a trainer I set up detection problems for Explosives and Narcotics teams as well as different real world patrol scenario’s to ensure all canines were capable of protecting our location while deployed. My skills also include ensuring MWD’s for operational use and conducting pre-certifications for handlers. Assisted with the inspections, handling, storage, security and accounting of MWD assigned explosives, while assigned to Lackland Air Force Base.
Jul 05 - Dec 08: Kadena AB, Okinawa, Japan
As an Entry Controller, I had a wide range of responsibilities. I inspected all military and civilian personnel to ensure they were authorized to enter the installation. As a Patrolman, I would conduct daily (Random Anti-terrorism Measures) insuring all areas where in order and secure. Also, I responded to incidents ranging from Assaults, Domestics, Larceny, MVAs and other disturbance calls. I conducted interviews with suspects as well as witnesses to determine how events conspired. I would also check personnel entering and exiting out of classified buildings using the exchange badge system method. While stationed at Kadena AB I was deployed for over 8 months to Joint Base Anaconda in Balad Iraq. My duties were to provide base security for our military member, also in Iraq I was part of the Fly Away Security Team. Our job was to provide security for the aircraft, personnel on the flight as well as for the crew members while conducting supply mission away from Balad Air Base. When I returned back from Iraq after 8 months I became a Customs Inspector. As a Customs and Immigration Inspector, I would insure persons entering Japan had proper authorization to enter the country and if personnel did not, we would escort individuals to Japanese Customs. When I was promoted to a Senior Customs Inspector I would certify proper training for all employees and assisted in preparing certification tests and revising AFI’s and OI’s. I also prepared work schedules and ensured all required appointments were met. As an Assistant Non Commission Officer in Charge, I would update unit security operating instructions, attending required meetings related to security. I also performed briefings for Distinguished Visitors and individuals entering the country on proper procedures and guidelines they had to follow while in the country of Japan. I ensured moral and motivation in the sections was always at its highest level as well as handling any situations with co-workers.
Apr 04- Jul 05: Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, Montana
Working as a Security Response Leader my responsibilities was to detect, deny, and delay any hostile/non-hostile acts effecting Level 1- Level 3 resources in the Nuclear Missile Field. Responded to multiple duress alarms; ensured safety and security for the launch location. Additionally, I was an Equipment Custodian for the Missile Field Response Teams and was responsible for over $4 million worth of equipment. I also conducted inventories of items ensuring all items were accounted for and actively working. Issuing equipment to the Response teams allowed teams to be affective while in the field helping to prevent hostile acts toward our nation.
