PROJECTS

Computer Aided Design: Designed biopsy needle using PTC Creo that would be utilized in a surgical operation by a robot. Needle was designed to be inserted into site where prostate cancer had been detected. Needle was printed with an open section for sample collection upon removal.

Finite Element Design: Using PTC Creo, developed helical coil spring, then converted its’ dimensions and geometric tolerances to ANSYS FEA software. Spring was then given structural qualities of steel, and compression force was acted upon it to determine where compression force was strongest.

Top Down Design: Using PTC Creo design software, developed snowman. Base, midsection, head, top hat, carrot nose, stick arms and pieces of coal were all developed individually, then put together as an assembly by configuring individual pieces axes.

Product Development: Managed team of student engineers by creating schedules, tracking inventory and overseeing contract obligations and deadlines, then evaluated safety, efficiency and effectiveness of bone grafting calcium sulfate biomaterial. Team developed test to measure efficacy and non-Newtonian characteristics of biomaterial. Also advised and assisted clients in application of biomedical equipment in clinical environments.

Oral Presentations: Organized classroom study sessions between classmates to review coursework for courses such as Computer Aided Design, Statistics, Biomaterials and Continuum Mechanics. Gave detailed explanations on topics discussed by instructor that resulted in several students, including myself, earning A’s in aforementioned classes.

Biomedical Research: Researched cancer biology with group of engineers to investigate method for precise application of ozone (O3) as potential replacement for radiation therapy.

Aerospace Research: Designed experiment to determine amount of force necessary to achieve lift by using force and acceleration computer programs and model airplanes of varying sizes and materials. Designed experiment that measured pressure build up within hand-made rocket and launch pad by using bicycle pump and PVC piping.

Leadership Role: As President of the Graduate Biomedical Engineering Society, increased membership numbers from five to seventeen by incorporating new avenues of interests that students were not privy to, such as entrepreneurship, by inviting experienced business leaders in school faculty to discuss topics such as marketing, finance and product development.
