RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensuring that co-employees are transported in a safe manner on a daily basis
to and from the site where we are currently working (Alexander Bay). Ensuring that vehicle has been checked and all is in a good working order on
a daily basis. Doing random pick-ups or drop-offs in Springbok as well as
transporting of co-employee’s home (Klerksdorp). Sites that I have transported
co-employees to and from is Lesotho, Botswana and Komatipoort.
Sets up and operates power saws to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and non-metallic workpieces per specifications: Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools. Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions. Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct workpiece, using hand tools and measuring devices. Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, per blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications. Mounts workpiece in holding device, manually or using hoist. Operates saw to cut along scribed lines. Verifies dimensions of finished workpiece, using measuring devices. may also weld and anneal saw blades.
Semi-Skilled Welder (CO2 & Plastic Welding)
Reads and interprets blueprints and machine drawings to determine specific welding requirements. Connects cables from welding unit to obtain amperage, voltage, slope, and pulse, as specified by engineer. Manually guides electrode or gun along weld line, maintaining length of arc and speed of movement to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from colour of metal, sound of weld, and size of molten puddle. Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions. Examines weld for bead size and other specifications. Repairs broken or cracked parts and fills holes. Tacks assemblies together. Chips off excess weld, slag, and spatter. Cleans or de-greases parts. Performs all necessary maintenance and repair on all equipment used in welding. Move parts in and move finished product out of welding area.

Install gauges or controls. Bell, bead with power hammers, or weld pressure vessel tube ends to ensure leakproof joints. Weld metal components. Shape or fabricate parts, such as stacks, uptakes, or chutes, to adapt pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or piping to premises, using heavy-metalworking machines such as brakes, rolls, or drill presses.
