March 30, 2014 through present. Working at Safari Circuits. Started through a temp agency and was hired in on July 14, 2014. Testing circuit boards, soldering components onto circuit boards, some assembly, depaneling circuit boards, inspection, touchup and repair of boards.
December 23, 2012 - March 10, 2014. Fulton Public Schools. Working as a para-professional in the Kalamazoo office recruiting students for alternative education to receive high school diplomas working online. Grading tests, assigning subject packets and mentoring/tutoring.
December 14, 2010- December 20, 2011. Working at Stryker in Kalamazoo through OnStaff USA entering complaints into the super system (computer system that handles surgical instruments complaints). Data Entry related job. Assignment at Stryker through Onstaff USA ended.
August, 1996 – December, 2009: Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI. Hired in as computer operator in the IT department. IBM Mainframe. Promoted to shift leader (3rd shift). In 2005 IT switched over to using a server based platform. My basic function was to operate/monitor the status of a multi-platform computer systems and peripheral devices. Some Unix and VMS systems were used. Reported problems to on-call personnel. Trouble tickets were initiated. Some applications were run under APPWORKS, others under People Soft. My job as an operator evolved into that mostly of monitoring the servers and jobs running in APPWORKS and People Soft. We monitored the servers through an application called SMON/Hobbit. Printing of reports decreased after the switch to server based applications. We still did print monthly bills and post processed them through a folder-sealer machine. My other responsibilities included monthly inventory of printer paper and the various special forms we still used, monitoring cameras for anyone entering the building, and helping out with scanning of professor evaluations/exams if needed during peak periods.
January, 1985 – June, 1996: Herman Miller, Inc., Zeeland, MI. Computer operator using IBM Mainframe. Mounted tapes, ran the nightly production schedule, and printed many special form reports as well as regular paper reports. Took calls from users with problems with remote printing problems.
September, 1981 – January, 1985: McKesson Corp. Kalamazoo, MI. (no longer there…moved to California). Computer operator.
Prevoius work history was working as nursery salesman at Wedel's Garden Center in Kalamazoo, MI during college years.
