As corporation’s chief logistics / materials officer and division’s de facto COO responsible for P&L, revamped outdated business model to focus on operational excellence reinventing and transforming dysfunctional, marginal operation servicing large, 15-vessel fleet (Norwegian Cruise Line, Royal Viking Line and Royal Cruise Line) operating global itineraries into responsive, effective, efficient and profitable performer far surpassing expectations.

• Increased KCL’s competitive advantage by streamlining its complex demand and supply chains. Negotiated annual supply contracts requiring supplier-maintained inventories and replaced KCL’s distribution center and outside warehouses with 3PL providers to significantly reduce cycle times, materials costs and operating expenses.

• By restructuring / rescaling, achieved turnaround of Caribbean Ships Chandler, the unionized (ILA), multi-facility supply / distribution subsidiary of $1B parent, and accelerated its growth from $75 million to $150 million business in four years.

Revitalized and strengthened $200 million materials management and distribution operation of major ground transportation firm in support of North American corporate and licensee rental, leasing, and sales activities. As chief purchasing officer, contributed to record earnings by optimizing centralized / decentralized organizational buying structure.

• Maximized purchasing leverage via introduction of requirements and capacity planning, corporate contracting and vendor-maintained inventory programs drastically reducing product and operating costs, improving cash flow, and assuring uninterrupted supply streams. In one program alone, saved more than $10 million on 36,000,000-gallon annual fuel purchases.

Organized and directed successful ‘come from behind’ turnaround effort shattering licensing / logistics logjam to achieve scheduled start-up and sustain operations of world’s largest, privately held, integrated agro-industrial project located in Brazil’s Amazon rain forest.

Operations at Daniel K. Ludwig’s Jari Project which covered 4,000,000 acres (an area larger than Connecticut and Rhode Island combined) included a 750 TPD bleached kraft pulp mill and companion 55 Mw power / process steam plant; a 250,000 acre tree (gmelina) plantation and attendant harvesting operation; lumber mill; world’s largest open pit kaolin mine; bauxite mine; 12,000 acre continuous cropping rice plantation; two deepwater ports; fleet of transport, cargo, and crop-dusting aircraft; several airfields; railroad; and, the infrastructure to support Jari's multi-division operations and its 7,500 employees and their families (more than 30,000 people) on site in one of the world’s most isolated locations and hostile environments.
