Duties & Responsibilities

Provide expert advice on all safety, health and environment matters.

Develop HSE strategic plans to ensure consistent application across delivery units. Provide technical support for HSE projects, problem solving, investigations including site inspections, audits, and activities.

Drive continuous improvement and operational effectiveness of HSE programs, procedures including development of expense and capital budgets needed to support these efforts.

Provide continuous monitoring of safety performance, conducting planned and reactive audits and inspections, recommending actions to facilitate improvement.

Manage environmental health and safety compliance for over 1000 employees in the Petrochemical industry. Maintain ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications.

Develop competence for EHS training at the site. Formulate EHSS Training Plan / Need analysis and evaluation at site.

Identify and evaluate potential hazards and risks of the site and Initiate EHS activities to mitigate risks. Formulate Management Approval procedure for acceptable risk and maintain its record.

Provide assurance that Contractors HSE management systems are established, implemented and maintained in accordance with the requirements of the policies and procedures, and government HSE legislation.

Provide assistance with the review of bidders’ HSSE documentation ensuring clarification of responses and correct scoring.

Assist plant with government interfaces and inspections. Facilitate risk assessments, and monitor PHA (What If, HAZOP, LOPA), MOC work processes, and work across the plants to ensure recommendations are addressed.

Manage site environmental programs (Responsible Care 14001), Sustainability KPI’s and assuring compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Respond to GPCA / corporate requests in a timely manner.

Key Achievement

Formulation and successful implementation of first Complex EHSS Turnaround Plan catering pre- post and during execution requirements.(67 different contractor companies with 10000 manpower)

Carryout safety reviews of operations across sites. Identify areas for development, and undertake Behaviour based positive initiatives (BUFU, EHSS Ask Me, I know I care) to promote improvements in behaviour across the sites.

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Company Details May 2011 - Feb 2015

QHSE Section Head - ADHI Crude Oil/LPG/LNG/Gas Field: Supervised activities of the QHSE department and maintained direct communication link with the field management for all QHSE related issues.

Key Achievement

Acted as HSE resource during Plant-3 Project ensuring HSE requirements during tendering process, Pre-FEED, FEED, EPC and operation phases.

Formulated Guidelines for identification of Safety Critical Elements and implemented its managements at site. Reviewed risk assessments of critical activities using BOW Tie Pro and suggested controlled measures.

HSE Section in Charge, Sui Gas Field, Pakistan: Served as HSE section in charge at PPL largest natural gas Purification Plant.

Joined newly developed HSE department at DESTO in the managerial capacity to supervise three different sites, and established the HSE department from scratch.

Key Achievement

HSE Advisor, Bio-Chemical Research Lab: Served as an HSE advisor for the design/construction of research labs. Prepared site feasibility by consequence analysis reports, risk assessment reports, and Emergency management plans for bio-chemical labs.

HSE Advisor, Wind Tunnel Installation: Supervised the HSE team during installation of a wind tunnel. Performed job safety analysis and prepared risk assessment report for the commissioning and erection of wind tunnel.
