Work Experience
University Tutor: 2017-2018
-Taught university level students B2-level English at Altinbas University, Istanbul, Turkey.
-Taught students how to write essays and converse about topics in an academic manner.
-Advised students on how they can develop themselves and increase their grasp of English.
-Marked students’ work and exams and planned lessons for the B2 level.
-Created both lesson materials and assessments.
-Invigilated and conducted assessments as well as grading papers and essays.
Teacher of Extracurricular Classes at Primary School: 2018
-Taught after school classes to primary school students between the ages of 6 and 9 at Hekimoglu Alipasa Ilkogretim Okulu, Istanbul, Turkey
-Planned a syllabus and advised the current department how they could improve their effectiveness
-Created materials and tests for the students (who were all elementary)
English Teacher (Every Summer for 3 months)
-Teaches English as a second language at the Language Teaching Centre in Eastbourne, England.
-Teaches 4 lessons a day (Monday to Friday) and creates the lesson plan and chooses suitable material.
-Is responsible for not only teaching his class (around 10-16 students of around 10-17 years old) but also for providing them guidance around the school and leading them to the assembly point in the event of a fire.
Freelance Work
-In his free time Emre has translated various documents and tutored English online for students studying to take their IELTS exam.
-To be successful he had to be motivated and had to exercise self-discipline in order to ensure he completed the work.
-The two students who he tutored both succeeded in scoring high enough in their IELTS to attend university.
-He also succeeded in obtaining the contract for, and completing, the translation of a 20 page story which is now part of the published (and very successful) ‘Iraq 100+’ by Comma Press.
Metalform (Sheet-Metal Factory) 2015-2016
-Learned to operate various machinery such as the laser machine and folding machine by observing others.
-Used pragmatic thinking to break down drawings and create a plan to producing the finished products from sheet metal.
-Cleaned up the workshop and equipment and keeps the work areas organised.
Timber displays (Wood Workshop) 2015
-Stayed consistent in order to cut, trim and drill large amounts of wood accurately.
-Used forward thinking to nail and screw wood together to create various display objects such as tables, trestles and crates.
-Created presentable products by carefully treating the finished items with paint or sandpaper.
Cosmo (Chinese Restaurant) 2013
-Welcomed and seated customers before serving them in a friendly and patient manner.
-Handled customers’ orders and complaints and ensured their satisfaction with the service they received.
-Maintained calm conduct and handled the pressure of working during the busy times around christmas.
Mammoth Boot Fair 2009-2013
-Directed pitches to their spots and dealt with requests and problems spontaneously in order to avoid traffic building up.
-Welcomed customers in a polite and friendly manner and charged them the entrance fee.
-Dealt with customers problems and mediated between quarrelling customers in a fair way to avoid confrontations and maintain customer satisfaction.
-Cleaned up the fields and prepared them for the next boot fair.
