Dear Hiring Representative
I completed my Associates Degree in Applied Science of Technology on December 12, 2014. I am currently attending Grand Canyon University for Information Technology with emphasis in cyber security, with me graduating in 2018-2019. My varied work experience, coupled with my education, has prepared me for an entry level career. I am interested in the job of because of its commitment to its employees and the community.
While in the military, I had numerous opportunities to demonstrate my knowledge and leadership skills. I served as the senior multi-channel transmission systems operator-maintainer for 2nd Armor Brigade Combat Team at Fort Riley, Kansas. While in this position I was part of the Network Operation Group (NOG) that assisted all the Soldiers in our Brigade with any and all information technology needs and issues. The brigade consisted of 5,000 Soldiers which was our customer base. As part of the NOG and the senior multi-channel transmission systems operator-maintainer, I implemented a leadership and mentoring program that pinpointed members’ strengths and directed them in paths that would one day make them a senior multi-channel transmission systems operator-maintainer and a Network Operations Group personnel for any unit in the US. Army. I have also been given several leadership and management tasks within my career including several additional responsibilities in my past units. In these roles I organized several task and standards, delegated responsibilities, promoted team work, and a one team one fight philosophy. I have since then been working at Honeywell and while it has been a great place to work I do not feel it is in line with the career path that I have chosen for myself and my degree. Since retiring from the military I have been working at JP Morgan & Chase, it also has broadened my information technology knowledge that I feel would make me a good fit with your team.
Along with my military experience, I have had the opportunity to deploy and utilize my skill set in real world situations with different units in the military. This exposure and real-world experience has been instrumental in strengthening my interpersonal communication and networking skills and flexibility in approaching and dealing with diversity in people and the workplace.
I would welcome the chance to speak with you about my qualifications and starting a career. If it is more convenient for you, I can be reached at 623-***-****. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Michael. E. Cannon
