Gas Turbine System Technician (Mechanical) First Class Petty Officer

USS Milius, Yokosuka, Japan

Served as Engineering Officer of the Watch, the Petty Officer in charge of the propulsion and electrical plant who directs all evolutions that take place in the engine rooms. Documented and took action in normal and casualty operations to maintain ships maneuverability. Provided propulsion and electrical generation capabilities as demanded by controlling watch.

Skillfully managed a team of 20+ personnel in the preventive and corrective repairs of gas turbine engines, A/C generators, reduction gears, fuel and lube oil systems. Assisted in the qualification of 30+ personnel through OJT in multiple watch stations – saved 3.5 million dollars in equipment repairs and refurbishment.

Used Integrated Condition Assessment System (ICAS) in order to analyze operational logs and equipment trends in order to troubleshoot 50+ pieces of engineering equipment and systems – increased equipment efficiency by 35%.

Maintained meticulous tag out safety precautions for on-going maintenance, installation, modification, and removal during overhaul of the USS Milius engineering plant at BAE Systems shipyard in San Diego, CA.
