Experience
Piping Designer
LA Gates
April 2012 – April 2016 Charleston, West Virginia
Contracted out to EQT via LA Gates. Piping design for the natural gas pipeline industry using AutoCAD 2014. Drawing gate sketches, isometrics, piping details, including main line valve sets and pig launchers/receivers. Trained in ESRI ArcMap to view GIS mapping. Also trained to use AutoCAD Civil 3D to create pipeline alignment sheets. Further training in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
Piping Designer
URS Corporation
November 2007 – January 2008 (3 months)
Worked in the Baton Rouge, LA office in the piping group. My expertise in Microstation was needed for one of their clients. Drew Piping Isometrics, used Excel to create a Bill of Materials, created plot plans showing tie-in locations, and created any other document required for a "construction package".
Electrical Designer
Marathon Petroleum Company
March 2007 – September 2007 (7 months)
Contract employee in Findlay, Ohio in the Northern Terminal Engineering Department. Needed for my Microstation expertise.
Electrical Designer
Jacobs Engineering
January 2007 – March 2007 (3 months)
Contract employee in the Lakeland, FL office. Trained to draw loop diagrams using AutoCAD software.
Piping Designer
Jacobs Engineering
August 2006 – November 2006 (4 months)
Contract employee in the Cincinnati, OH office. Hired to draw P&IDs using AutoCAD software for a Bio-Pharmaceutical project.
Design Tech I
American Electric Power
October 2005 – January 2006 (4 months)
Contract employee for Kentucky Power. Trained to design Residential Electrical Distribution. The job required going to the field to take photos and field notes to use with LD Pro software.
Designer
Chemical & Industrial Engineering
February 2002 – November 2003 (1 year 10 months)
Worked on the "Assett Development Project" at Marathon's Catlettsburg, KY Refinery. My Microstation expertise was needed as well as my knowledge of the client. "Jane of all trades", but my primary responsibilities were drawing Piping Isometrics and Microstation/Computer troubleshooting. Worked on site in a construction trailer. C&I's headquarters are located in Louisville, KY. Therefore, they needed me to keep an attendance list, keep track of office supplies, fleet cars, safety harnesses, Nomex, filing, notify client of our status in the event of a refinery evacuation, etc. Trained to use Intergraph’s Model Viewer to retrieve coordinates and elevations for steam/condensate manifolds. This job also required going to the field to take measurements and sketch isometrics.
Lead CAD Designer
CDI Professional Services
June 1998 – April 1999 (11 months)
Worked on a Master P&ID update at Marathon's Catlettsburg Refinery. Existing P&IDs were walked down by a team consisting of one piper and one E&I designer. Line numbers and Instrument numbers were added. The line number code (spec, etc.) was checked by a Chemical Engineer. Equipment data (pressures, temperatures, etc.) was verified. After all that was completed, then the mark ups were sent to CAD. I was responsible for all electronic files. Translated AutoCAD files into Microstation format. 1500 P&IDs were updated in 9 months and the project ended.
CAD Designer
Marathon Petroleum Company
October 1983 – February 1997 (13 years 5 months)
Worked for Ashland Petroleum Company prior to the merger with Marathon Petroleum. Worked as a storm drainage designer for Superamerica Engineering from 1983-1989. Transferred to Refinery Engineering and started drawing P&IDs, Electrical Schematics, concrete fdns, rebar schedules, plot plans, etc. Then learned how to do piping and began drawing piping isometrics and bill of materials. Worked in the Terminal Engineering department from 1991-1997. Went to the field to take measurements and draw hand sketches.
