As an insurance claims project manager I was responsible for the investigation, oversight and management of environmental insurance claims associated with releases of fuel oil and hazardous materials. Specialties include claim investigation, loss evaluation, damage assessment, feasibility analysis for remedial alternatives, oversight and cost-to-cure determination, subrogation support, and serving as an expert witness for sites located throughout New England, New York, and New Jersey. I maintain a working knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations/policies, and relevant oil burner equipment and tank installation regulations/guidelines pursuant to the NFPA, NORA and EPA.
Field services provided include: inspections, cause and origin investigations, interviews for procurement of information; due diligence research; oversight for investigation and remedial activities; coordination and review of metallurgical evaluations; and, field services management. I also provided additional client support through contract review; regular communications with stakeholders and their contractors; invoice review; and budget tracking. (Project Manager 2006-08; International Division Manager 2008-09) As Project Manager for VERTEX, I was responsible for the management and completion of Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments in various U.S. states and Mexico, desktop peer report reviews, asbestos and lead paint surveys, third party consultation, underground storage tank closures, soil and soil gas remediation, groundwater monitoring, site redevelopment consulting, and regulatory closure petitions and interaction. Projects managed and completed were predominantly located in Massachusetts, California and Mexico; however I also managed and completed projects in Connecticut, Florida, Hawaii, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas and Wisconsin. During this time period, I developed strong working knowledge of the Massachusetts Contingency Plan, California state regulations and Mexican regulations. As Senior Environmental Scientist, I provided technical support in data acquisition/reduction and report preparation related to hazardous waste characterizations, remediation and environmental assessments. During this time period, I completed more than 100 ASTM-compliant Phase I Environmental Site Assessments in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area for a wide variety of private and public sector clients, including: construction storage yards; semi-conductor manufacturing facilities; electronics assembly facilities; automobile and engine repair shops; gas stations; apartment complexes and multi-family buildings; commercial/office buildings; storage warehouses; biomedical research facilities; plating facilities; and undeveloped/agricultural land.
