• Medication administration, oral, rectal intramuscular, inter-venous, subcutaneous, inhalation, nasogastric, ang per gastrostomy tube.
• Dressing changes, decubitus ulcers, surgical sites, stoma sites, picc line, external fixator pin site care, wound vacc, and drain sites.
• Care of colostomy, nephrostomy, Ileostomy, Ileoconduit, jackson pratt drains
• Administration of ordered gastrostomy and nasogastric feedings per bolus or via pump, monitor for intolerance, check for placement and residuals.
• Tracheostomy care, maintain humidified oxygen, administer nebulizer treatments, suctioning, application of oxivent, replace trach when dislodged, clean inner canula, replace disposable inner canula, monitor overnight pulse oxygen, capping of trach.
• Monitor accuchecks of diabetic patients and patients receiving steroids, administration of scheduled insulin or as per sliding scale orders, monitor for signs and symptoms of hyperglycemia and hypoglycemia.
• Use of Coagcheck machine for patients receiving Coumadin therapy.
• Insertion of indwelling foley catheters, male and female, insertion of straight catheter to obtain urine specimens or if post void residual is high. Monitoring patients receiving overnight peritoneal dialysis.
• Application of ordered restraints, documentation hourly, alert MD if order is not renewed every twenty four hours.
• Excellent bedside manner, assessment and communication skills including de-escalating of agitated and combative patients. Excellent assessment and communication skills.
