Grand Rounds Presentation
“In pediatric patients with persistent asthma, is an inhaled corticosteroid or leukotriene modifier more effective in the management of symptoms?” This presentation was given, along with a colleague, to investigate which class of medication leads to a better asthma symptom control score in the pediatric population. Data from a research article titled, “Episodic use of an inhaled corticosteroid or leukotriene receptor antagonist in preschool children with moderate-to-severe intermittent wheezing,” by Bacharier L.B. was analyzed, applied to our patient scenario and presented to the physician assistant class to educate future providers when initiating treatment therapy in similar patient cases.
