ACADEMIC PROJECTS

Classifying Public Transport Complain Tweets (Dec’16 – April’17)

The algorithm was devised that would classify the complaint tweets of people regarding transport system into the respective government twitter handles.

An Experience Report on Teaching Compiler Design Concepts using Case-Based and Project-Based Learning Approaches (Jan’16 - April’16)

A Case-based and Project-based Learning environment was proposed for teaching important Compiler de-sign concepts (CPLC) to B.Tech third year students of a Delhi University (India). The results of our study show that case-based teaching of compiler concepts does enhance student’s skills of learning, critical thinking, engagement, communication skills and team work.

Accelerating Alpha Miner algorithm with parallelization on CPU and GPU (M.Tech Thesis)

(Jan’15 - June’15)

Alpha Miner is a popular algorithm within Process Mining which consists of discovering a process model from the event logs. Discovering process models from large volumes of event logs is a computationally intensive and a time consuming task. Application of parallelization on Alpha Miner algorithm was proposed and implemented. Speed up achieved on GPU was 39.3 times from the same program run over multi-core CPU.

An Algorithm and Case-Study on Improving the Goodness of Software Process Models generated by Mining Event-Log Data in Issue Tracking Systems (Aug’14 - Jan’15)

Process models generated from event logs are spaghetti-like which are complex to analyze and difficult to comprehend by a process analyst. The project aimed at improving the fitness and structural complexity of the process models. Complexity and fitness metrics were used to measure the goodness of generated process models. Varied data analytics were done to show that the proposed techniques enable better analysis.

Movie Reviewer (Aug’13 - Dec’13)

A movie analyzer was created that inputs a movie name from the user and shows the varied sentiment for the movie as expressed by people on twitter.
