Objective
To obtain a challenging position that matches my career interests and goals and purse an advanced degree in Materials Sciences and/or business management
Education
CHEMICAL ENGINEER APRIL 2016 UNIVERSITY OF PITTSBURGH (MAIN)
Major: Chemical Engineering
Minor: Chemistry
Skills & Abilities
COMMUNICATION
Poster Presentation Winner: Placed 1st out of 250 students in the 2016 Analytical Chemistry Lab Poster Presentation where I created a poster and presentation on the following: Determination of Unknowns via Ion Exchange Chemistry: Ion exchange chemistry
KATA and PDCA Cycle style training: Received training on how to properly update higher management on projects via KATA and PDCA Cycle presentations
LEADERSHIP
Team Leader: Systems Engineering--Process Design, University of Pittsburgh, voted among peers to be the leader of the group project, where duties included submission of final papers, presentations, and lab reports, direct line of communication between professor and group, informing group members of tasks & schedules
Team Liaison: Product Design and Realization, University of Pittsburgh, voted among peers to be the leader of the group project, where duties include creation of PowerPoint presentations, communication with supervisors, communication with various companies, presenting findings of research and development
LEAN MANUFACTURING
Identifying Bottlenecks and Reducing Downtime: Successfully identified bottleneck issues and engineered solutions to decrease downtime in the Aluminum Heat Treat process by efficiently reducing the amount of rinse time in between glycol quench cycles, while maintaining quality, by calculating the hydrocarbon residue associated with glycol on aluminum panels at various rinse times and locations in the rinse tanks
Reducing Scrap Dollar Amounts: Lowered the amount of scrap dollars produced in the Metalbond facility by $1000s each week by explaining, interpreting, and demonstrating how specifications should be read and understood, while providing training and maintain a smooth work flow
CHEMICAL PROCESSING AND METALING PLATING
Scale Up Process of Electro-less Nickel Plating: Successfully plated steel test panels by first creating a 4L Electro-less nickel plating bath by installing, maintaining, and regulating bath chemistry, pH, temperature, and concentrations, then scaling up into a 250 gallon tank
Installation of Titanium Cadmium Plating Tank: Helped install a titanium cadmium plating line and created S.O.Ps, training, and maintenance manuals
ROOT CAUSE AND FAILURE ANALYSIS
Corrective Action on Hard Coat Anodize Aluminum Parts: After over 100 defective parts were produced, successfully saved the Hard Coat Anodize chemical process via analytical chemistry, nickel acetate scale up projects, and investigation of chemistry implementation
Analysis of Failed Customer Aircraft Parts: With the use of various analytical instruments such as FTIR, TGA, and Salt Fog Chambers, failed customer parts were analyzed and presentations were created to create presentations to convey why the parts in question failed and corrective action that can be taken to ensure no failures in the future
PROGRAMMING AND SOFTWARE
Trained to use: Microsoft Office, Matlab, Aspen, SAP, VPM, and Enovia
Professional Experience
PROCESS ENGINEER TEXTRON AVIATION MARCH 2018 - PRESENT
Electro-less Nickel and Titanium Cadmium Plating Process Control: Installed, tested, and verified electro-less nickel plating systems while creating standard operating procedures, test method sheets, and operation instructions
Steel Heat Treatment: Creator of Textron Aviation steel heat treatment stress relief specification by performing gap analysis on previous company specifications, industry standards and conducting personal research
Chemical Process Control: Identified and solved process bottlenecks and process constraints by limiting time in-between processes, analyzing chemical issues, and creating a smooth work flow
MATERIALS & PROCESS ENGINEER TEXTRON AVIATION JUNE 2016 – MARCH 2018
Root Cause and Failure Analyst: In metal bonding, customer service, quality, operations, and other engineering disciplines, solved Quality, Reliability, and Field issues by providing chemical analysis (via analytical instruments), quoting applicable specifications, and generating reports on findings, fulfilled customer requests by travelling to service centers to analyze defective parts and provide relevant feedback for repair
New Product Development: Qualified new materials in the form of safety equipment, non-chromate primers, topcoats, hydrophobic coatings, conformal coatings, corrosion inhibiting compound coatings, and aluminum lithium alloys
Operation and Production Line Support: Reduced the scrapped parts dollar amount by the thousands by providing consultation advice and training information, attended regular operation and production line walk throughs to provide process support in the form of process control, and equipment management
Volunteer Work Experience
