INTERSHIPS
WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT RECRUITER • BRAZOS VALLEY COUNCIL OF GOVERNMENTS • 05/2017 TO 12/2017 Throughout this 8-month internship with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG); I was tasked to be the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) out of school youth recruiter. WIOA is a governmental program that is designed to get out of school youth back into school and on their way to self-sufficiency. It was my job to locate, target, and recruit individuals into the program. I attended meetings, designed flyers, and posters which were made in bulk and distributed throughout the 7 counties that make up the Brazos Valley. I also attended community events where I got in front of large audiences and gave speeches about the program and answered any questions that parents or students had about it. I also came up with ways to improve BVCOG’s social media presence and created PowerPoint presentations that would run in our resource room and highlighted all the governmental programs that the COG offers.
GIS SPECIALIST • TEXAS TARGET COMMUNITIES – TEXAS A&M • 03/2017 TO 09/2017
Texas Target Communities (TTC) is a program from the College of Architecture at Texas A&M University which provides technical assistance on land use planning and design to small, lower-resourced communities across the state of Texas. With my internship with TTC, I was tasked to update and refine The City of Richwood Texas's GIS Map. This included coding parcels of land to match with existing zoning codes, fixing incorrect codes, refining line work throughout the map, and updating and correcting addresses throughout the entire map package. I worked closely with TTC staff and city officials to complete the project. I go above and beyond basic
administrative tasks and I’m more
than capable of taking on
multiple projects at once. I have
an excellent work ethic and I’m
quality-focused. My objective, as
I plan for the future, is to produce
work to my highest standards,
gain more experience, perform
to my best ability, and respect my
colleagues. If given an
opportunity, I can be a great
addition to your organization.

EMPLOYMENT
WAITER • CASA RODRIGUEZ MEXICAN RESTAURANT • 03/2012 - PRESENT I've worked at Casa Rodriguez Mexican Restaurant for several years and held nearly all positions throughout my time at the restaurant. I started at the bottom as a busser, worked my way up to a host, and now I'm a waiter. The management at Casa Rodriguez looks at me as their unofficial manager, and I'm often left in charge when management is not in. STUDENT MENTOR• TEXAS A&M UNIVERISTY• 05/2015 TO 06/2016 I was one of a selected few to become a student Gateway mentor for the Transition Academic Programs (TAP) at Texas A&M University. I had several duties as a student mentor which include teaching a required summer class of about 25 students. I also taught incoming freshmen about campus resources, assisted with new student conferences, and helped plan events for the entire gateway class which was over 300+ students. As a mentor I also shared information about my experiences at Texas A&M, my experiences as a minority first generation college student, as well as provide guidance, motivation, emotional support, and role modeling. Lastly I managed a small group of students throughout their first year at Texas A&M University where I met with each of them twice a month, checked in and see how they were doing in class and in life, assisted in any way I could and reported back to my supervisor. STUDENT WORKER • COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE • 04/2014 TO 01/2017 As a student worker for the Department of Visualization at Texas A&M University, I performed basic office work which includes answering and transferring calls, responding to emails, ordering and purchasing office supplies, and any other duties that faculty and staff asked of me.
