To Whom It May Concern,
While earning my degree in Psychology, I volunteered with the Alzheimer’s Association for over a year. During my time working with clients and their loved ones, I gained valuable experience in my field. I also spent 2015 participating as a research assistant at California State University San Marcos. This helped me learn how to create, run, and present psychological research studies, including surveys and experiments. During this time, I had the chance to put my SPSS and Excel knowledge to good use and learn how to interact with study participants. My degree has given me the tools necessary to connect and interact with the world and people around me in a meaningful way, and also offered excellent writing experience so that I could develop and hone my writing skills.
From 2011 to 2015, I held a position in the recreation department at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa. My responsibilities there included scheduling and billing reservations, filing, creating Excel documents, and other receptionist tasks. This work allowed me to provide great customer service and gain experience in supervising employees, as well as have fun. From 2015 until now, I have been an independent piano teacher. Being self-employed has taught me valuable time-management, client-relation, and motivational skills, and has given me the opportunity to strongly consider my goals for the future.
In my spare time, I write both professionally and creatively, as well as tutor grammar and English. My area of work includes academic writing such as research papers, creative story-telling, proofreading and editing, and drafting articles for freelance blog work. You will learn from my resume that I am an accomplished student and dedicated employee. I am versatile and always ready to learn, and quickly build trust and positive relationships with clients, co-workers, and peers. My resume is enclosed for your convenience and I would like to thank you for your time. If any further information is required, please contact me at the above phone number and email.
I hope to speak with you soon.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Graham
