Objective
I am currently attending Appalachian State University studying Cell/Molecular Biology and Chemistry as a Pre-Med student. I have received licensures to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Medication Aide. I will be graduating with my bachelor’s degree in science one full year early this coming May. I am looking to fortify my application by acquiring more work and leadership experience to become a competitive candidate for medical school.
Experience
Instructor of Summer Ventures and Future Doctors and Scientists July of 2016
nResearch Instructor (150 hours):
oAssisted in teaching high school students several methods for providing health care (venipuncture, vitals, suturing, etc.) and conducting college level research. Students were also taught the fundamentals for how to keep a lab notebook and how to write a professional, publishable manuscript from their research data. Hours were 30-40 per week for a total of four weeks.
Physical Labor January of 2011- Present
nPrimary Landscaper for Father:
oTasks included but were not limited to: cutting grass, spraying weeds, power washing the house, and washing cars. Most of the work was distributed throughout the week after school. Hours range from 6-10 per week.
Clinical Experience May of 2017- Present
nCNA I (370+ hours):
oCertified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I) at Summit Place of Kings Mountain. Daily tasks were focused around resident care which includes assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. Hours range from 40+ per week during the summer and PRN during the school year.
nMedication Aide (95+ hours):
oMedication Aide at Summit Place of Kings Mountain. Daily tasks include passing medications in the form of pills, inhalers, insulin pens, etc. as well as filling orders for prescriptions and carrying out physician orders.

oCurrent member of Dr. Mowa’s Reproductive Biology Research Lab. The primary focus of my projects deal with the antibacterial properties of Moringa oleifera subfractions against Escherichia coli.

Appalachian State University Biology Departmental Honors Program
Current student of the Appalachian State University Biology Departmental Honors Program. The Biology Departmental Honors Program allows students to expand their academic experience by participating in rigorous courses outside of the University Honors College. The Biology Departmental Honors Program also provides some funding for research endeavors.
