Being a nurse is not a job, it is a way of life and you have to love what you do and after 26 years as a LVN and 30 + years in the medical field, I do. - Oversee 24/7 care staff, scheduling LVN’s, as well as overseeing schedulers for med techs and caregivers daily schedules.
- Train and Manage with the assistance from the caregiver supervisor and med tech supervisor the care staff in accordance with the resident’s needs, state regulations and the company’s policies and procedures to ensure the highest quality of care is given and continuing education regulations are met. Education logs and staff education brought up to date per state and company regulations.
- Oversee and manage the Medication Program with the assistance of the med room supervisor which includes training of staff, ordering, storage, administration, documentation and discontinuation of medications. Oversee and manage the LVN office and streamline systems to make the department and the care more efficient to accommodate the residents and the LVN’s.
- Perform mental and physical assessments on seniors prior to move in, s/p hospital/rehab visits, yearly and upon change of condition and to also train in house LVN’s to also do assessments in and out of the community. Arrange yearly TB testing for residents and staff and assess independent residents monthly for any changes.
- Keep log of all residents on care. Alert families of changes and services needed.
