Dr Vasant Rao Pawar Medical College, Nashik,
Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, University-2010-2013
Dr Vasant Rao Pawar Medical college, is a teaching hospital, established since 1990. The radiology department is equipped with a 1.5 Tesla superconducting MRI Unit,a Spiral C.T. scanner, latest colour Doppler machines, image-intensifier units and three ultrasound units. The department of Radiology has
subspecialties in sonography, gastrointestinal radiology, musculoskeletal radiology and neuroradiology and Magnetic resonance imaging.
I have worked here for three years as junior and senior resident .During my tenure, I have been trained in all the subdivisions of radiology.
I regularly participated in the academic discussions and regular department teaching programs. I was actively involved in both intra and inter-departmental teaching programs and meetings.
As a senior resident at Dr Vasant Rao Hospital, I was responsible for the training of junior residents, interns and medical students in radiology. I have conducted regular seminars, journal clubs and case discussions during my tenure as a resident.
Conventional Radiology which included plain radiography, sialograms, dacrocystograms, fistulograms and sinograms.
Gastrointestinal Radiology included barium studies, T-tube cholangiograms.
Genitourinary Radiology included intravenous urography, urethrography, cystography, ascending pyelograms and hysterosalpingography.
Musculoskeletal Radiology included plain films, myelograms and arthrograms.
Training was acquired under Professor M H Khivesara.
USG included general abdominal and pelvic ultrasound, transvaginal and hysterosonograms, color Doppler and USG guided interventions. Small parts USG included thyroid, breast, scrotum, orbital, musculoskeletal, pediatric neurosonography, chest USG.
Training was acquired under Dr. Sharad Gadgil,
Professor, and HOD of the department..
CT scan included Neuroradiology, Head and Neck Radiology, Pediatric Neuroradiology, Body imaging including chest, abdomen, pelvis, HRCT of the chest, musculoskeletal CT and 3-D CT.
CT guided interventions included pig-tail drainage, aspirations, FNAC's/biopsies.
MRI included routine scans of brain, spine, extremities, abdomen, pelvis, MRCP.
Training was acquired under Drs Shivade and Dr Gadgil and Dr Imran,Lecturers in Radiology.
I was working as a Consultant Radiologist –in-charge at KVM superspecialty hospital ).It is equipped with, a
64 slice G E Multislice Unit, Ultra sound,Color Doppler, Conventional Radiography and Mammography. I performed and report an average of 150 MRI and 300 CT studies each month. It involved interaction with patients and Consultants. I have worked as a Consultant – at Nanavati Hospital Mumbai, in the CT and MRI Center since April 2014 upto June 2015.After completing my MD I have been fortunate to have been able to work with Dr. Deepak Patkar and Dr Susheel Kumar at Nanavathhi Hospital and Research Centre, Mumbai. What I had learnt theoretically in my post graduation days, I learnt to apply practically during my stint with them. Perhaps the greatest thing I have learnt from them is to realise what is the objective of a particular scan being performed. I have also worked with one of the best instituitions in Nairobi Mediheal group of hospitals.
I am presently working at Fatima Mata Mission Hospital as a consultant Radiologist, Since August 2015,Which has more than 60 patients a day, performing all the CT and sonographies in detail.
Audits & Research
Dissertation Thesis on descriptive study of different neck lesions using multislice computed tomography
Under Guidance of Dr. Shivade, M.D.,DMRD, D.M.R.E, Honorary Associate Professor of Radiology.
Dr Vasant Rao Pawar Medical college,Nashik.
I am also active in clinical meetings with Neurology and Neurosurgery, Otolaryngologists, Chest physicians and oncologists. Teaching is what I am good at, and one day I will return in a Teaching capacity
I aspire to further my career in Radiology, involving myself in three sphere-Patient care, Teaching and Research, necessarily in that order. This stems from my philosophy that one should not miss the trees in quest of the forest. Radiology is all about combining a sharp eye with rationality and knowledge, and I intend to use it to the best of my ability for healing the diseased. As the health and hospital services chart a new path from disease management to health promotion, Radiology is poised to play an even more important role in Medicine. I hope to
be able to learn and teach these fascinating advances to
those around me. If I get an opportunity to serve at an
Institute where genuine Research Work is feasible, that
would be the proverbial Jewel in the crown for me.
