Application for Technical Writer
I refer to the opportunity offered and wish to apply for it. I have a post-graduate degree from the University of Pretoria and I studied towards a specialisation in Carbon, Fluorine and Polymer Materials Science. I have attached my CV for your consideration. As you might know everything changes with time. It is one of the absolute truths on earth. Humans, animals, plants, wine, and the sun; all these change with time. Some improve and others deteriorate. This truth illustrates that everything is a process. Digestion in living creatures, rain, germination of plants, and even the greenhouse effect are processes and the earth as well as human life is run through processes. The concept of change is what led me to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. Through this concept, I believe that we can change the fate of any material and model processes and materials for industrial purposes in order to ease and enhance human life. This is the role of a chemical engineer. From November 2013 up to date, I work part-time for Sparrow Consulting as a Technical Writer and Editor. Sparrow Consulting is a full-service educational company that develops and implements specialised technical training materials. At Sparrow Consulting, I write, edit and quality assure training manuals and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) manuals for companies, such as, Sasol (Synfuels), Nampak (Divfood), Further Education Training (FET) colleges and Takraf Tenova (Kusile Power Plant). The training manuals and O&M manuals consist of teaching employees of our clients a wide variety of skills including how to manage a company’s finances, install free WiFi towers, maintain and operate earth moving equipment, supervise a team, improve productivity and operate the most complex chemical plants in the country. For more than a year, I have been working for the Tenova project at 2
Kusile Power Plant. This work has exposed me to the processes involved at the Kusile Power Plant through site visits, writing and redaction of training manuals and O&M manuals and interactions with Tenova and Kusile Power Plant’s personnel.
Throughout my academic study, I have been exposed to the science of materials which demands a proclivity for reading to expand your knowledge base and understand it. With my keenness in learning, I developed an affinity for research, analysis and problem solving which, I believe, are important tools for any engineer or consultant.
Knowing my strengths, once I am given an opportunity, I saw it through in order to better myself and accomplish what is required of me. I believe that, with this opportunity, I can strive for excellence and put to work the knowledge that I have acquired so far. Thanks for the time taken to process my application and I await forth your answer. Kind regards
Clem Kadima
