Applications Engineer Nov 2015 – present

Modine CIS (Formerly Luvata Grenada LLC) Grenada, MS Acquired detailed knowledge of manufacturing processes involved in production of HVAC/R coils. Compiled design manual for Heatcraft Commercial Coil Plant. Oversaw production of coils for AHRI audit.

Verified pressure ratings for U-Stamp coils using calculations based on ASME section VIII-I. Assisted quality department in diagnosis of manufacturing issues related to off spec materials and processes.

Designed coils for high rises using more cost effective materials than competitors for the given operating pressures.

Determined replacement for manufacturing materials such as sealants and gasket materials based on needed parameters such as operating temperatures and cure times in different humidity levels.

Oversaw parts of a process to clean coils that had been manufactured for Tesla Motors with a non-evaporative lubricant.

Determined the cause of a burst coil used as an economizer at a dairy protein plant in Minnesota. Discovered that a high pressure system wasn’t equipped with a PSV. Determined coil material compatibility based on the products of potential reactions that can occur in the airstream of different HVAC systems.

Determined why evaporators were causing compressor failures in a data center. Evaporators Joshua B Johnson Page 2

were undersized for their needed capacity.

Predicted maximum operating temperature for coils based on material properties and potential problems due to thermal expansion.

Engineer I Feb 2013 – Apr 2015

Waldemar S. Nelson and Company New Orleans, LA

Sized PSVs using fluid mechanics and thermodynamics principles. Performed thermal expansion stress analysis on various piping systems using Caesar II pipe stress software.

Reviewed and used isometric drawings for mechanical checks. Analyzed stresses on the Steam Manifold, Process Fluid, Casing Vent Gas, and Well Kill lines for Well Pad using Caesar II software. Made engineering judgments on the supports and piping anchors needed based on the piping system response to thermal expansion and other forces. Analyzed phase layer thicknesses in a high pressure three phase separator for Louisiana Land Oil and Gas (LLOG) Exploration.

Performed stress analysis on various projects including: work on International-Matex Tank Terminal Asphalt Pipeline, work on steam system piping for SNF Corporation, and an analysis of a Carolina Gas Transmission compressor and gas cooler station. Analyzed stream composition and properties to increase efficiency of a Shell petroleum production platform during a bottlenecking project. Contacted and worked with vendors and contractors to update and verify the equipment cost estimate relating to hurricane related repairs for the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans. Sized pressure safety valves (PSVs) for a heavy gas oil filter skid purchased by Marathon Petroleum and for High Pressure and Low Pressure separators for Louisiana Land Oil and Gas

(LLOG) Exploration.

Modeled and sized a heat exchanger for a bulk oil treater on the Shell MARS-A oil platform, also determining necessary throughput of water.

Contributed to temporary instrument air system HAZOP for Shell offshore production platform. COMPUTER EXPERIENCE
