Project Description: EGIS is providing Project Management Services for the Doha Expressway C2 Project, a huge Carriageway development project, involving design & construction of 5 major Junctions, with a total budget of $1.8 billion.

Key Responsibilities/ Tasks: Resident Engineer, Manager for SC Structural dept. responsible for all facets of Structural activities for 5 Major Junctions with 3 Bridges, 1 Cut & cover tunnel and 4 underpasses, involving over 6.5 million m3 of excavations and 1.4 million m3 of concrete castings. Responsibilities/ Tasks: Senior Structural Engineer, Manager of PMC Structural design dept., providing lead for the PMC structural design team comprising of 6 senior Str. engineers. Under my tenure fully completed review and approval for the huge Structural Design package comprising of over 26.000 structural shop drawings and over 1500 technical reports; Successfully managed structural design issues related to primary and auxiliary buildings, resolving details for concrete works, complex Steel works and Facades; ensured strict conformance to Specifications, per Egyptian Law and per demanding Client requirements; Monitored Designers & Contractor for completeness per deliverables Schedule. Responsibilities/ Tasks: Senior Structural Engineer assigned Client’s representative to monitor and coordinate the design and construction activities for a number of Pre-Stressed Precast Bridges with related utilities & civil works. Responsibilities/ Tasks: Lead Coordinator (Package manager), responsible for overall design and construction of ACP Facades & Steel works for 17 Commercial buildings comprising the Business park. Structural Steel erected exceeded 5.500 tons. Duties were to develop and execute effective delivery strategies for design, fabrication and erection of structural steel and for facades for each Building Unit, in line with Project execution plan (PEP). Each Building unit approx. 7.000 m2 in area, with central concrete core and peripheral steel framing, with complex Curtain walls & ACP Facades, skylights, canopies, screens, trusses, composite decks and steel Bridges. Reported to Project Director. Total Budget $437m.

-Coordinated total ACP facades & steel work activities, overseeing design and construction process from beginning to end, including shop drawing development, procurement, factory fabrication, erection, certification and commissioning;

Project Description: The National NEA ODOS Motorway was an International Concession Project, involving a 380 km National Highway Expressway, a continuation of the European Routes E853, E951 and E55, which included 24 bridges, 4 tunnels, 77 underpasses, 24 overpasses and 392 culverts. The overall project budget exceeded €650 million.

Responsibilities/ Tasks: Project Coordination duties for main Contractor. Assigned as Senior Assistant to the Project Director in an auditing role, to monitor QA/QC and HSE compliance of over 90 separate subcontractors executing earthworks, asphalt works, concrete bridge construction, underground Tunneling works and utilities. As Senior Safety Coordinator represented Client and Contractor to Govt. authorities, directly accountable for Project’s overall HSE obligations. Managed 7 HSE engineers monitoring daily the entire project, identifying safety shortfalls and/or work issues within work crews, conducted proactive training, maintained records, presented progress reports to the J/V Board of directors. Project Description: The new Athens Airport began its operation in March 2001, where the Hellenic govt. and HOCHTIEF were the key stakeholders, with an initial building service area of 180.000 m2. Scope covered operational development for airport expansion and improvement, including design and construction of the Airport’s dual function METRO Terminal & SUBURBAN RAILWAY TERMINAL, as well as other airside & landside airport facilities.

Responsibilities/ Tasks: Assigned to AIA’s Project Management Dept. comprising of a multidiscipline Engineering team of 17 highly skilled professionals, for development of new Airport Facilities & Infrastructure maintenance during the operational phase, on a total project delivery basis, managing from inception to hand-over. Additionally, assigned as Resident Engineer for fast–track construction of the Pedestrian Bridge which was initially on critical path jeopardizing the airport’s operation and successfully completed target within 9 months. The Airports Project Management team operated under Turnkey Concession contracts focusing on Commercial development of the Airport’s overall facilities both Landside and Airside, as well as development of the Main Terminal Building & Duty Free areas.

One of the major Projects developed in this period was the design and construction of the Airport’s new METRO Terminal & Suburban Railway Terminal Station, notably a Concrete & Steel Superstructure spanning above the ATTIKI Odos Expressway, including 100m Pedestrian Steel Bridge, constructed in a strategic location directly outside the Airports main entrance, with a critical deadline to achieve operational readiness for the Athens 2004 Olympic Games. Other projects assigned were), design & construction of the supplementary VIP Airport Terminal, a Medical Center, the Airport’s Chapel, supervision of the 5 Star Hotel (SOFITEL), plus various Airport maintenance facilities & workshops. Overall Budget of works exceeded 240 million €.

Project Description: This was a Pioneer (PPP) International Project, being the first major greenfield Airport in the world constructed with the Participation of the Private sector. With a land area of 17.5 Km2 and 2 main runways, HOCHTIEF was awarded principal Contractor for the New Airport with a total budget of € 2.2 billion. Construction commenced in 1996.

Responsibilities/ Tasks: Assigned as lead Project Engineer responsible for construction of 9 concrete Bridges with total length exceeding 1.500m, including adjoining utilities and earthworks. Bridges were all post-tensioned with Freyssinet System with 40m spans and involved over 12.000m3 of castings; Supervised the Utility Tunnel, Aircraft apron and overhead Road Signage. Duties covered overall site supervision and coordination of subcontractors’ activities for performance to maintain project schedule and quality of work according to Hochtief’s strict QA/QC standards. Oversaw work crews up to 60 people providing technical lead and guidance; Interfaced with Consultant Parsons for regular audit inspections and QC certifications. Reported to the Construction Manager, reported on progress, and advised to maintain targets.

Project Description: Construction of six METRO Underground Stations in Central Athens city, with connecting underground Tunnels, Vaults and Galleries, implementing the Austrian NATM method. NATM work crews under my supervision executed over 32.000m3 of castings for underground Metro tunnels, galleries, vaults & stairways. Overall budget for the Athens OLYPMIC METRO Project approx. 1.5 billion €.

Responsibilities/Tasks: Under the main Contractor, was assigned Team Leader to guide and manage 6 tunneling crews comprising of 180 skilled technicians for construction of six METRO Underground Terminal Stations, including associated underground Tunnels, Vaults and Galleries using the NATM method;

In this project was given the opportunity to develop a good working knowledge of Tunneling construction practices for NATM underground tunnels, involving geotechnical works, deep excavations, anchoring, grouting, bracing, lining, shotcrete, FRP methods, deployment of Hydraulic Work Platform for placement of Waterproofing & Rebar steel across Tunnel sections and for underground Castings, all types of piling operations, secant, end-bearing & friction piles, ground improvement methods, as well as exposure to design and erection of Steel Frames, trusses & girders, steel fabrication, machining, turning & welding.

Reviewed & approved Shop Drawings for tunnel construction and in turn determined specific Construction Methodology suited to Tunnel geometry; prepared tender documents for hydraulic steel platforms and steel formwork, designed for specific tunnel geometry, monitored factory production (CIFA) & delivery to site; provided training for workers for steel formwork assembly, operation & maintenance for successful underground castings; daily monitored site performance, resolved construction issues, provided technical expertise as required for daily construction;

Liaised with Station Managers coordinated work schedules, allocated my teams resources and determined work tasks to achieve daily targets; educated junior site engineers regarding methods and sequence of Tunneling activities

Project Description: Briefly assigned for construction of a New Municipality Council Building, which was a 6000m2 project, in the suburban area of Aigaleo, Athens.

Responsibilities/ Tasks: Duties involved scheduling, coordination of all construction work, supervising work crews and liaising with consultants and Council inspectors leading up to commissioning. Total construction work under my management was approx.1.2 million €.

The total value of works under his responsibility was approximately 1.800.000 €.

Received training in the use of military explosives and construction of the famous steel “Bailey Bridge” used in river crossings for field operations.
