One of three teachers in WSFCS to receive Bright Ideas grant funding awarded by Energy United for special projects enhancing classroom innovation and instruction. Awarded $2,000 for project entitled
“Mobile Literature Libraries.”
Served three-month term as Teacher / Librarian Mentor for UNCG Library Student.
Implemented Library Club and Literature Circle, two enrichment programs for fifth grade students enrolled in the AG program.
Coordinated several successful Scholastic Book Fairs.
Launched Family Literacy Night – (first for Griffith Elementary) and collaborated with school’s ESL Team, Family Involvement Committee and multiple literacy-based community organizations; sixty Griffith families in attendance for this event.
Partnered with Curriculum Coordinator and representatives from Winston-Salem DASH Baseball Team in launching building-wide, eight-week W-S MVP DASH Education Program.
Coordinator for Camp-Read-A-Lot - school-wide event which entailed community members and school district dignitaries, including District Superintendent, reading aloud to students – day devoted to Art of Storytelling and importance of reading aloud to children.
Coordinated several creative writing contests for third, fourth and fifth grade students, Rolling Pumpkin Adventure Story and Mystery Writing Contest. Winners were treated to Saturday field trips to Barnes and Noble, lunch at Applebee’s Restaurant and Texas Roadhouse Restaurant, bowling and hayride to an authentic pumpkin patch.
Coordinated Bookmark Design Contest – annual Forsyth County Library event – with 300+ bookmark entries from Griffith E. School students.

Implemented Reading Buddy Program in Media Center third through fifth graders read aloud to kindergarten through second graders.
Created 100 Book Club: Every classroom of students who read and discussed 100 books together each received free book, bookmark, gold sticker, book tote, crayons and classroom popcorn party.
Awarded a $2,850.00 grant from The Winston-Salem Women’s Foundation in support of The Griffith Girls Only Club enrichment program for 8 to 12 year old girls. SCHOOL COMMITTEES
