SUMMARY:
Performs supervisory responsibilities for managing all aspects of automotive repair and preventive maintenance of an workshop. Keeps vehicle records filed and updated and monitors vehicles for serviceability and safety. Supervises and provides counseling to skilled automotive technicians and support personnel. Communicates efficiently with department personnel.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Plans, organizes, schedules, and assigns all aspects of work to include minor and major repairs and
preventive maintenance, trucks, cars and as well as motorized equipment in the company's possession.
*Maintains and updates the automotive center's shop equipment and troubleshooting equipment.
*Supervises, monitor and reconciles the inventory in automotive center's parts department.
*Establishes and oversees safety standards to insure that the automotive shop complies with universal safety
policies guidelines.
*Monitors and updates the preventive maintenance program.
*Monitors the purchase card transactions and reconciles monthly. May write and submit purchase requests.
*Supervises recovery/recycle programs to include Freon and oil..
* Responsible for assisting a Shop Supervisor or the management in the day-to-day planning, direction, and
supervision of maintenance, repair, body repair, and new vehicle up fitting activities on an assigned shift.
*To complete all documentations including inspection sheets, certificates, receipts applying signatures as
appropriate.
Distinguishing Features:
Exercise considerable independent judgment in solving unusual work problems in automotive workshop. Distinguished from the next higher-level class of Shop Supervisor by the latter performing more ongoing administrative assignments, having less involvement in the daily shift activities, and by responsibility for all supervisory and administrative activities on an assigned shift.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Degree of Industrial Education major in Automotive; 12 years of related experienced and considerable knowledge of automotive maintenance operation or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Fair communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
*Thorough knowledge of maintenance management, preventive maintenance & warranty programs.
*Thorough knowledge of automotive shop operation and scheduling.
*Thorough knowledge of automotive safety programs.
*Knowledge of records, filing and managing.
*Ability to adapt, overcome and organize in a constantly changing automotive field.

JOB DESCRIPTIONS: - Specific & General.
*To diagnose and undertake electrical repairs on a wide variety of vehicles and equipments.
*To undertake electrical installation of accessories and ancillary equipment on any automotive products.
*To test and repair digital control systems including ABS controls.
*To service and repair ancillary parts and equipment as required.
*To inspect, maintain and repair all types of petrol and diesel engine motor vehicles and equipments.
*To requisition parts and equipment as necessary.
*To keep on vehicle clean and tidy any site or work area after use. (if appropriate).
*Take note the details of any accident incurred whilst driving any vehicle owned, operated by customers
or in the custody of company and submit them to the Foreman Mechanic or Service Manager.
*To identify repairs required through unfair wear and tear and inform the Service Manager
or Shop Foreman.
*To undertake seminar workshop as may be required and product training by consultation.
*To carry out work within a realistic time, be this time either manufacturers, locally negotiated or a
combination of both or by agreed schedules of work.
*Work with electronic computer-controlled engine management systems.
*Service, identify and repair faults on electronically controlled vehicle systems such as electronic
fuel injection, electronic ignition, anti-lock braking, cruise control, automatic transmission,
airbags and air conditioning system.
*Refer to circuit diagrams, and use meters and test instruments to find electrical faults.
