Academic Projects

Optimization of Tool Life in Turning Operation Using TAGUCHI Techniques

For this project work, Center lathe is identified for conducting the experiments on Turning Process. Raw material selected is En8 steel round bars of 40mm diameter and length 300-500mm (20 no’s) Cutting tool selected is 1/2” *6” high speed steel square bar (2 no’s).

Emulsion cutting oil is used as a coolant. Metal cutting parameters are cutting speed, cutting depth, and cutting feed. The cutting parameters are varied one at a time by maintaining the other two constant.

The Automobile - An Integrated System

The project consists of getting feedback from different people about the available features, quality, and functionality and how they like it to be and any changes they would like to see in the product.

Later proceeding further, we will deal with the QFD (Quality function deployment) of the vehicle. Quality Function Deployment technique we learned to translate customer’s needs into engineering characteristics.

Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum H20 and H30 Alloys

This project deals with friction stir welding of aluminum alloys AA6061 (H20) and AA6351 (H30) in two conditions

-T6 and solution heat treat condition.

In this project, we study friction stir welding and its process parameters, solution heat treatment of alloys AA6061 and AA6351. The main intention of the project is to study the mechanical properties of weld joints.
