Work Experience
Program Manager/Value Engineer- Product Development, Hardware Technology & Process group, 2000 - 2013
Sun Microsystems & Oracle Corporation
oProvided Contract manufacturer sourcing recommendations
oSupported cost, vendor management, supply logistics for product start up and production.
oCreated a System manufacturing cost model to estimate the costs for test of computer systems.
oCreated a methodology to set cost benchmarks for competitive products. Data are used to set “not to exceed” cost targets for new products in design.
oManaged freight cost and manufacturing cost optimization.
oProcess development consulting
oApplied Six Sigma principles to generate contract manufacturing cost targets.
Engineering Manager (New Product introduction) & Group Manager (World-Wide modules manufacturing), 1987 - 1999
Digital Equipment Corporation, Maynard, MA, USA
oAs Engineering Manager, oversaw introduction of mid- and high-range Servers into manufacturing. Managed process development in our manufacturing plants to build new products.
oAs manager for modules manufacturing, was responsible for meeting delivery, quality, and cost metrics in our 3 manufacturing plants that employed approximately 2400 people.
oAssignments as trouble-shooter at manufacturing plants, working on engineering, quality, delivery and personnel issues.
Manager, Material characterization, Advanced crystal growth, Solar cell processing, 1974 – 1987
Mobil Solar Energy Corporation, Waltham, MA, USA
oMobil Solar Energy Corporation developed a process, called EFG, to grow polycrystalline Silicon in the form of ribbons. Led a team to characterize the EFG silicon ribbons and solar cells built on the ribbons. Managed a team to develop advanced techniques for growing multiple Silicon ribbons simultaneously, and in-situ purification of the material.
oTransfer of technology to Japanese partner.
