Highlights and achievements

Worked on sales project in converting the process from batch to continuous flow which benefitted in bringing the sales transaction reaching data warehouse from 30 mins to 2 mins.

Automated the ETL batch monitoring with a Unix script. Which sends the batch status in a mail to the support team. Also alert the support team in case of SLA threat.

SLA report script – created a Unix script which sends the SLA status at the end of the batch window to the home depot management

Appreciated by homedepot management for fixing data issues in the cashier metrics report in short span. During the cashier rewarding program for the stores.

Worked on Hadoop PIG scripting POC. Created a sales data validation script which assess the data quality using PIG program.

Has trained the new joiners in the team on abinitio with hands on, data warehousing concepts and Unix basics.

POCS in Hadoop/Talend

I have created a talend program in loading the margin data to Teradata using talend.

I have created a PIG program to validate the sales data in comparison between the sales base and aggregate tables to check the data quality.

I have experience working on the Hadoop file systems. Also created many scripts in hive to load the Inventory data in to Hive inventory tables.

Worked on POCS in moving the data from the Teradata EDW table (COS Margin) to Hadoop file system using SQOOP.

This Data will be loaded to Teradata Warehouse and based on this data Micro strategy Reports are generated to be available to Business team and Store Managers for reporting purpose. The data is historical and can be drilled down to smallest granular level and can be rolled up to very high level as well.

Highlights: This project brought down the time from 30 mins to 2 mins for sales transactions to reach Teradata DB from stores.

d. Ab Initio Development – EDW Cashier metrics report

This project is aimed to create consolidated cashier metrics reports to operate over 2000 operational stores of home improvement appliances across US.

The reports are generated based upon the cashier performance across the registers in the store. There are key metrics in the report with which the cashier’s performance is evaluated. The report also has sales information rolled up for different hierarchies across the organization. .

Description

●This project was to migrate the WCS abinitio from version 2.15 to 3.12. The operating system was also migrated from UNIX to Linux.

●WebSphere is the front end tool which populates the product attributes into the homedepot.com portal every day. Homedepot.com is one of the largest online portal selling thousands of home improvement goods. Abinitio gets the data from the Big hammer; a third party vendor and creates the data for the WebSphere portal. By upgrading the abinitio code written in 2.15 to 3.12; it enables the better performance of the code.

Responsibilities

●Analyzed business needs of clients, reviewed the business requirement with them and prepared mapping document for the source to target data flow.

●Prepared the data profiling about the final outcome of the project and developed detailed design of the coding and the design document.

●Developed the Ab Initio Graph/Jobs with offshore team co-ordination.

●Debugged and tested this code with QA team and scheduled this code for batch run using Maestro scheduler.

●Deploying the code in production and support the code until it gets stabilized.
