Senior Finance Executive with broad experience leading key finance disciplines including strategic and financial planning, general accounting and financial reporting, mergers and acquisitions, and operational improvement initiatives. Martin Marietta Materials, Inc. Raleigh, NC August 2017 – Current Director of Accounting (contract position)

$4B S&P 500 Index company and a leading supplier of aggregates and heavy building materials with operations throughout the U.S, Canada and the Caribbean. Reporting to the Assistant Controller to assist the corporate finance team with a myriad of projects, including:

• Implementation and roll-out of ASC 842, the new lease accounting standard.

• Implementation and QA testing of the BlackLine software system and its integration into JDE for journal entries and account reconciliations.

• Documentation and testing of numerous internal control deficiencies identified by the outside auditors.

• Revising, streamlining and consolidating various Excel workbooks used to account for three company stock plans.

• Numerous other projects, including streamlining and reducing manual JE’s performed every month, account reconciliation review procedures and enhanced analytic tool and report creation for a number of company KPI’s. Lumber Liquidators, Inc. Toano, VA November 2016 – June 2017 Corporate Controller (contract position)

$1B specialty retailer of hardwood flooring, holding the largest market share in North America. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer with a team of five direct reports and a full team of ~22 professionals. Was brought in after the abrupt departure of the then Corporate Controller to help the Company through the year-end close, audit and Form 10-K filing.

• Led the Finance team’s effort to undergo the year-end audit and successfully file the Company’s Form 10-K on February 22, 2017 (one week prior to the previous year’s filing date).

• Working with both internal and external audit, helped the Company conclude testing and reporting to enable the full remediation of a 2015 material weakness in internal control.

• Led the effort to begin implementation of the new revenue recognition standard, including project planning, revenue stream scoping, contract reviews & identification of key terms, and the identification of accounting policy changes. The team was behind in this endeavor and needed to fast track this assessment & testing prior to the filing of its Form 10-K.

Worldwide Clinical Trials, Beverly Hills, CA and Morrisville, NC September 2013 – September 2016 Corporate Controller

$300M global clinical research organization that provides full-service drug development services to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting including internal (management and board) reporting, as well as chief liaison with Big 4 external auditors for annual GAAP audit. Manage a group of 50 with six direct reports responsible for general ledger, consolidation, segment reporting, operational and KPI analysis.

• Managed the monthly closing and consolidation for domestic and international subsidiaries and the preparation of monthly management and Board reports.

• Led a C-suite initiative to review, analyze, and make recommendations of cost structure and facility capacity realignments of a key but under-performing subsidiary of the Company. Also introduced price-volume variance & improved utilization analysis into the monthly financial statement package.

• Led the effort to reduce the number of days to close by 3 days. This also entailed the establishment of a monthly reporting calendar, consistent deliverables across all regions and ‘pushed’ analytical analysis vs. ‘pulled’.

• Drove the analysis and drafting of memoranda relative to changes in the Company’s revenue recognition policy relative to un-contracted revenues.

• Served as the project lead to implement and roll-out the Company’s EBITDA and cash flow forecasting process, enabling the Company to forecast EBITDA and cash balances twelve months into the future. LANGUAGE LINE SERVICES, Monterey, California July 2008 – September 2013 Corporate Controller

$300+M company holding market share lead in language translation services. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for all aspects of financial reporting including internal reporting, SEC filings, bank reporting and compliance. Manage a group of 20 with four direct reports responsible for general ledger, corporate tax, payroll and credit and collections.

• Managed the monthly closing and consolidation for domestic and international subsidiaries and the preparation of monthly management reports. Also coordinated all Board/Audit Committee, bank compliance and SEC reporting functions.

• Managed the relationship with external auditors (PWC) and coordinated all annual audits and quarterly reviews, including timely submission of Forms 10-K/Q. Significant experience in drafting all footnotes, MD&A and other required disclosures in SEC filings.

• Researched and documented technical accounting memoranda on several areas of GAAP, including revenue recognition, leases, consolidations, discontinued operations and others.

• Key accounting, audit and document drafting liaison in preparing and successfully filing an approved Form S-1 with the SEC in March 2010 as part of the Company’s IPO undertaking.

• Provided substantial assistance in successfully refinancing the Company’s credit facility, including preparation of projections, covenant modeling, and structuring issues and terms.

• Responsible for the preparation of Audit Committee presentations and the coordination of important communications, including among other things, 302 Certifications, lower-tier certifications (worldwide) and insider trading communications.

• Worked alongside corporate legal to prepare and disseminate other required public filings, including Proxy Statements and Sustainability Reports.

• Worked alongside other Caterpillar executives within accounting, finance, treasury, legal and H/R on a multitude of Six Sigma projects, including key accounting initiatives being undertaken by Caterpillar, as well as operational and strategic initiatives (Pension/OPEB plan restructuring, etc.).
