Documentation and System Conversions Projects

Integrity Marketing Group

Developed for their Premier Group 15 different Visio process flows depicting “as is” various activities and processes performed in the Premier Senior Marketing Department. Flows involving processing of incoming customer applications for new medical coverage with various carrier. Processing of monthly commissions and licensing activities for both existing and new agents.

Demonstrated use of Activity Based methodology to identify cost of activities and opportunities.

Develop preliminary dashboards examples for forecasting and measuring staffing and utilization.

Essilor of America

Developed, updated and documented "end user" desk instructions for processing 174 different monthly sales marketing lab reports, submitted either electronic or manual.

Developed, updated and documented 22 different "end user" desk instructions for use in processing file maintenance related activities.

Developed using Visio various, process flow, diagrams to accompany the new desk instructions.

FDIC

Participated in an overall project designed to totally updated and documented all of their major business processes. This information then was used in the development and support of their cost related charges associated with their service provided to member institutions.

Northwest Medical

Conduct detailed process paper work flow analysis for a major oncology / infectious disease clinic that allowed management to identify and streamline their processing of patients files, increase number of patient’s appointments and reduce billing cycle time.

Exhibitgroup Gitspur

Planed and conducted a wall to wall process mapping flow of International firm specializing in trade show exhibits from initial contact by client to final billing. Based on the information a new system was developed and documented that reduced the number of people from 14 to 5 and reduced process steps in half. Techniques were used as a model for their other centers.

Rockwell International

Directly involved in JAD / ERP full life cycle methodologies (SDLC) for development, analysis, installation, support as well as modifications and enhancements of an automated MRP / MRP-II system that met the necessary certification requirements for Telecom Defense Contractor. The selected supplier was IBM and became one of initial joint programs for the design and implementation of a complete automated closed loop MRP / MRP II system that included a work measurement system that complied with Mil Standard 1567A.

Trained primary users on selected systems operations and capabilities.

Designed user/system documentation, data dictionary, system flow charts for the use of the system, system option screens, system reports, and system enhancements.

Designed, implemented and documented a computerized Supplier Quality Rating system, subsequently adopted and used throughout Rockwell.

Designed and implemented a computerized system to track current and pending shop floor work instructions.

Designed and installed indirect work measurement and staffing requirement systems for use in purchasing, warehousing, receiving inspection, accounts payable, personnel and facilities/maintenance departments.

Food Services Projects

FCH Privately Owned Hawaiian business, consisting of Zippys restaurant chain of 24 units, bulk food / bakery manufacturing and distribution operations supplying product and services to both their restaurant operation as well as to stores, hotels and hospital customers on Oahu.

Developed detail labor cost data base for 300 plus activities within Bulk Food / Bakery Manufacturing and distribution operations.

Developed a baseline consisting of 587 detail labor time and costs data base associated with prep items, menu items and products in Restaurant operations.

Developed a model using both process mapping and ABM methodology “as is” and “could be” store ordering process system.

Developed PC computerized variable production schedules (vps) using work measurements (run rates) and project volumes.

Developed a series of “dashboard” metrics to project both planned and actual earned hours based on run rates and volumes. Converted numerous Excel worksheet used in Receiving Department to a centralized Access file eliminating clerical time previously devoted to update and provide numerous daily, weekly and monthly reports for both internal use as well as satisfy USDA requirements. Conversion resulted in reduced time previously associated with inventory control as well as improved inventory accuracy. Developed and “roll out” with training personnel updated processes

LSG Sky Chefs, Dobbs aka Gate Gourmet and Morrison Health care Food Services.

Developed process maps along with work station layout and work instructions for airline food catering management teams at over twenty (20) separate inflate unit locations and a health care food service client to aggressively examine all facets of their current processes as a means to reduce their cost and cycle time. Enhanced processes are reflected in units achieving improved bottom and top line results.

Reduced average cycle time for food tray assembly from 30 plus hours to 10 hours or less while minimizing resources. Reducing food variance cost by average of 20 to 30% and workspace requirements by 25% or more.

Developing documentation and process flow for implementing a successful joint startup project with Southland Corporation for supplying 20,000 sandwiches and salads daily to their stores in central and southern Florida.

Designing and implementing workstation layouts and processes flow in association with a joint pilot project between two companies in the supplying patient daily meal requirements to two (2) Fort Worth hospitals.

Insurance Projects

USAA

Conducted during and eighteen month engagement a number of highly visible special projects and assessments within their Life (Underwriting), P&C call centers as well as mail room and printing service areas. Projects required, facilitating, documented using Visio and other narrative process flows to evaluates and identify numerous process improvement opportunities within both their major business / data system processes that resulted in savings of millions of dollars.

Demonstrated how ABM, cycle time and work measurement principles can be effectively used in conjunction with other process mapping and improvements initiatives in identifying and removing non value activities to reduce cost and improve service.

New York Life

Conducted a special assessment project to document with Visio and evaluate their “as is” and “future” business / data system processes within developing area involving both of their processing of claims and customer service areas. The project highlighted opportunities to streamlining both business and systems that would be reflected in reduce cycle time, cost and improved customer service.

Demonstrated how ABM, cycle time and work measurement principles could be effectively used in conjunction with process mapping and improvements initiatives.

Government Projects

City of Plano, Texas

Interviewed personnel in 110 cost centers to document key activities associated with the implementation of a new job cost allocation system. System provides city management with both an improved method of complying with the cost accounting principles and practices prescribed by the federal Office of Management & Budgets (OMB) Circular A-87 and providing city management with ABM reports that will useful in their decision-making, budgeting and continuous improvement efforts.

Developed both current and proposed process flow of existing major activities for processing traffic citations.

Collin County (Texas)

Demonstrated using process mapping, system evaluation, work measurement to identify process improvement opportunities and associated cost for this major Texas county government. Newspaper articles have been written on the success of the program results.

City of Ft Wayne Budget and Finance

Installed and demonstrated how they could use ICMS ABM data system to assist them in reducing cost and improving service in conjunction with their Six Sigma initiatives.

Training

Lennox and Terminix

Conducted “hands on training” for major service provider clients in rollout of their new proprietary business system at their various nationwide locations. Training included working with individuals in both classroom and one on one training in the use of the system modules as well as being responsible for the tie out of financials at each participating center.
