PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Graduate Mechanical Engineer passionate to seek a career within the Product Design and Computer Aided Engineering domain.

EDUCATION

Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (Design and Controls) Rutgers University, NJ CGPA: 3.778/4.0 December 2017 Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering)

University of Pune, India CGPA: 3.7/4.0 May 2014

RELEVANT WORK EXPERIENCE

Mazzeo Research Group, Rutgers School of Engineering Graduate Student Researcher September 2015 – Present Thesis: Acoustic Manipulation using elastomeric parabolic reflectors and applied vacuum

• Designed the structure and components within an acoustic reflector assembly with a hyperelastic reflecting surface. Performed simulations for light weighting the structure and modal analysis to extract modes of vibrations.

• Acoustically characterized the reflecting surface for its gain and directional polar response.

• Conceptualized, designed, fabricated and 3D printed modules within an experimental setup to conduct on-axis acoustic testing. Utilized MATLAB and Python to script codes to acquire and process data from the Ni-DAQ module and CNC Arduino Shield to rotate modules within experimental setup about their axes.

• Validated the test results by conducting finite element analysis using COMSOL Acoustics and Structural Mechanics module. Achieved over 90% qualitative agreement between experimental and numerical results.

• Achieved an overall acoustic amplification factor of 18, comparable with commercially available sound collectors. Princeton Optronics, Hamilton, New Jersey 08619

Application Engineer Intern March 2017 - August 2017

• Chief Engineer for a station to conduct LIV testing of ODFN VCSEL’s. Conceptualized, designed and fabricated a probe station by implementing Parker Hannifin linear stages to transport the ODFN’s of 808 nanometer wavelengths in the X-Y plane and a Linear Stage (Zaber Technologies) for probing.

• Utilized Instrument Control Toolbox (within MATLAB)/PyVisa (Python) to control the GPIB, VISA instruments and calibration devices within setup. Implemented Image Acquisition Toolbox (within MATLAB) to control PointGrey USB Camera for image acquisition and to calculate beam divergence in the Far Field testing setup. Kirchhoff Van Rob Automotive, Troy, Michigan 48083 Program Management Intern May 2016 – August 2016

• Worked on ECRs proposed by the parent company (BMW) based on the original design using NX 10 and TeamCenter PLM.

• Drafted reports for the feasibility and possible failure during stamping, forming, and extrusion processes by performing simulations using AutoForm-Stamping Advisor.

• Designed and conducted Material Based study of the driver side tube and steering column within Instrument Panel Reinforcement implementing CATIA V5R17.

Tata Motors, Pune, India

Structure Design Intern July 2013 – April 2014

• Designed a mobile target handling system for implementation within different crash testing scenarios for testing AEB of commercial vehicles. Implemented DFMEA concepts for structural stability and performed tolerance stack-up analysis.

• Generated an assembly model using SolidWorks 2014. Drafted shop floor drawings of the components by implementing geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and DFM concepts. Conducted durability analysis and static-stress analyses for bending, torsion and buckling of load bearing members and anchors using Abaqus CAE.

• Performed simulations to check the thickness, strength of welds and bolted joint and performed fatigue analysis.

• Showcased in the “Annual Crash Safety Day” July 2015 at TATA Motors for its innovation, uniqueness and robustness of its mechanical design.

Academic Projects

• Design optimization and finite element analysis of a hydraulic excavator arm using SolidWorks 2015, HyperWorks Optistruct, and ANSYS response surface optimization.

• Durability analysis of vehicle frame and rooftop of a vehicle frame using ANSYS Rigid Dynamics and Optimization, RADIOSS and Altair HyperCrash. Design of vehicle frame achieved using CATIA V5.

• Forward and Inverse kinematical study and design optimization for an 8 DOF snake arm robotic manipulator linkage using MATLAB, SolidWorks 2015, HyperWorks Optistruct and Response surface optimization. 8 Condict Street
