OBJECTIVE

Position as Telecommunications Transport Network Engineer

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

I have 20 years work experience in Telecommunications.

I started my career as an Outside Plant Technician (Lineman), where I first began to learn about the physical design and construction of Telecommunications network facilities. I then worked as an Installation and Repair Technician, where I learned about delivery of service to end users, both residential and commercial. But I have spent the majority of my career in Telecommunications working as a Transport Technician and Engineer, working with core Telecommunications transport network facilities, hardware, software and related network elements. I have worked with transport network elements connecting core network devices such as class 5 voice switches, VOIP softswitches, Cisco, Juniper and Arista provider edge routers and to end user voice and data terminal devices, the PSTN and carrier ISPs. Some of these include Tellabs Titan 5500 and Force 10 (formerly Turin) Traverse series 600/1600/2000 DACS, Tellabs 532, AFC, Fujitsu 1500/2400/4800, Cerent 454, Cisco 1454 SONET-ADM, Tellabs/Cablespan 2300 and Adtran Total Access 230-5000 series TDMs, Infinera ATN/DTN/DTN-X ILS and Infinera, Ciena, BTI and JDSU DWDM sytems, and Hatteras MEOC equipment. I have worked with various transmission signaling means, from fiber-optic, paired-copper and coaxial cable to wireless RF transmission, and associated phases and components, including ADC, Corning, Panduit and Telect DSX1/DSX3 panels and FPPs, SC/LC/MPO/FC/ST fiber patch panels. I have worked with various test equipment devices, communications analyzers, Agilent spectrum analyzers, OPMs, OTDRs, EXFO, Digital Lightwave and Acterna BERT testers, TTC T-BERD 224/310/950 and Sunrise Telecom Sunset T1/T3/T10/XDSL model TDM testers, all physically on-site and some by means of remote access. I have also worked with DC power (in addition to AC power), cabling, terminating, maintaining and powering both inputs to and outputs from BDFBs, BDFPs and FAPs. In working with power I have used WE 188A (Ray Gun) high voltage tester, volt-ohm meters, multi-meters and clamp meters. In working in enclosed, inadequately ventilated areas I have worked with multi-gas meters (canary), and CO/O level meters and am trained in purging enclosed areas for work purposes. I have experience with monitoring, maintaining and reporting on Liebert air handling systems as well as other air handling and HVAC systems. I have experience working with IP networking, routers and switches, and TCP/IP protocols and configurations. I have worked with and performed maintenance on production network servers. As Lead Transport Technician and later Transport Engineer, I was responsible for writing MOPs, discussing the procedure with the technicians under my supervision, scheduling the maintenance windows and the technicians for the appropriate times when the service-affecting or potential interrupt work was to be performed, and then supervising and participating in hot-cuts, migrations, hardware/software upgrades and other maintenance window projects onsite with all personnel during scheduled TOPs. I also was responsible, post installation, for the planning, design and provisioning of services and the testing, prior to, of all levels of facilities and circuits: (DS0/DS1(T1)/DS3(T3)/VT1/STS1/STS3/STS3C/OC3/OC12/OC48/OC192/OC768/DWDM: 10GB/40GB/80GB/100GB). During outage situations I have troubleshot these various levels of facility transmission and associated equipment and systems.
