Selected Accomplishments

Redesign of Chevron’s Global D&C Standards and Guidelines. Existing Drilling & Completions Standards process was cumbersome and time-consuming. Helped steer a cross-functional team in an effort that simplified, streamlined, and partially automated the processes. Successfully rolled-out new more efficient system worldwide.

Provided 24x7 engineering & operational support for new-build rigs in Thailand. Tasked with bringing new-build rigs from the shipyard into a highly-efficient fleet. Managed extensive preparations in staffing, safe operations, and crew training. Successfully brought new rigs into the fleet incident and major accident free, a rare feat.

Resolved legal dispute to recover $2.2M for Chevron. Long-running contract dispute in Sumatra had bogged down. Negotiated with operations, various attorneys, and management from both companies to reach an amicable resolution. Despite leaving for the next assignment, stayed engaged and eventually recovered $2.2M for Chevron.

Introduced batch drilling in Nigeria to achieve $26.1M savings. Wells had been designed, drilled, and completed the same way for decades. Persuaded Chevron Asset Management Team to accept design changes. Trained rig crews extensively on new concepts and methods. Achieved $26.1M savings with 70+ days faster delivery time.

Implemented new technology to increase production and save $2.5M D&C costs. PK Producer wells could be redesigned/completed to make them more productive. Worked collaboratively with stakeholders and technical experts to test & prove new design. Saved $2.5M in D&C cost and generated millions in additional booked reserves.

Set world records for Unocal by drilling & completing 14 wells in 62 days. Unocal Thailand Drilling operation was top-rated but had room for improvement. Worked more collaboratively with Asset Team and service providers to improve efficiency. Funan-J was quickest platform (J-13 was fastest well) in history, setting two world records.

Global D&C Standards Advisor, 2016-2017. Worked with Chevron Engineering Technology Center on successful development, review, approval and maintenance of Global Drilling and Completions Standards (D&C).

Operations Engineer, 2013-2016. Provided 24x7 engineering and operational support in Thailand for new-build platform tender rigs T15 & T16 for a fast-paced HTHP factory drilling environment with up to 535 wells/year drilled to 10,000 MD/8500 TVD in 3 to 5 days per well. Many contributions to operational safety, reliability and efficiency.

Drilling Superintendent/Senior Drilling Advisor, 2008-2013 Duri, Indonesia assignment supporting Sumatra Drilling Operations. Focused on streamlining & standardizing work processes. Served as default Contract and Category Manager for Directional Drilling, Cementing, Fracking, Gravel Pack and Downhole Tools (>US$250 MM).

Earlier: Served as Sr. Well Planner for JV/Deepwater and Deepwater Contracts & Category Manager and Drill Site Manager (DSM) in Nigeria, 2002-2006: Ops Drilling Engineer & DSM in Azerbaijan and China, 2000-2001. Started career with Unocal and Rowan Companies, Inc. as a Drilling Engineer & Drilling Supervisor (DSM).
