RESEARCH EXPERIENCES
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign:
Undergraduate Research Mentor, Illinois Geometry Lab Aug 2015 – Dec 2015
• Designed and prototyped simulations for exploring convergence and stability conditions of system of 3 coupled oscillators. Postulated theories that governs the model from simulation observations.
• Led research team by coordinating meetings with professors, delegating works, checking project progress, and examining consistency between theoretical and simulation results. University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign:
Undergraduate Research Assistant Jan 2012 – May 2012
• Gathered over 200 GitHub projects that uses Akka, a parallel computing package. Identified, categorized functionality of the package in each project, and generated research report in statistical display to end users. COURSE PROJECTS
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign:
IPhone App Project Jan 2013 – May 2013
• Built an app that manages users’ group events in a collaborative 4-person environment with shared communication and leadership roles.
• Designed database structure for storing information in SQL.
• Improved the database structure for better efficiency, avoiding data conflicts and data injections. Northwestern University:
Numeric Analysis of Partial Differential Equations Sept 2017 – Jun 2017
• Implemented MacCormack, V-cycle and 6 other method for numerically solving partial differential equations for cross comparing the methods for two types of problems with different initial values and boundary conditions.
• Collected over 600 results from simulations, derived orders of running time and error for each method from the data. Verified that the analytic order estimations comply with the simulation results.
• Effectively interpreted research results in phase reports, which were presented to the professor and the class.
