Dear Sir,

I am a highly experienced senior electronics test/product engineer with extremely good analytical and troubleshooting skills. As a senior systems test engineer I have worked closely with many different hardware and software design teams on new product introductions and when necessary performed root cause analysis with contract manufacturers and vendors from around the globe to determine component failures and then instituting corrective action.

At Sensus supported testing customer based utility monitoring devices software resulting in some of the best received releases. Using software such as Seapine to manage files and releases, Selenium to test web portions of testing scripts and utilizing a customized test scripting software Smartware generated and executed 100s of automated test scripts.

At IBM (RTP) I functioned as a Test Development Engineer coordinating the design and test engineering effort on Intel (x86) based server products with the Chinese contract manufacturers Wistron, USI, Foxconn, Jabel, and Celestica. The products included System X, BladeCenter, Flex System blade servers and x86-based Flex Systems. I performed DFT (Design for Test) analysis on designs prior to releasing to the contract manufacturers. Wrote the testing requirements document for the contract vender bids on new products.

At Elster, worked closely with the design engineer to debug firmware/hardware including serial communications problems by monitoring, using high speed digital scopes and firmware debuggers tools, the interaction between the software and hardware and logging the results. I also functioned as the National Instrument test software deployment manager. I analyzed production requirements and ordered addition test systems, and lab test equipment. I also analyzed the contract manufacturer’s production SQL database yield data to ensure adequate yield and component tolerances during manufacturing testing. This included both in-circuit and functional test queries. I also used the SQL data queries to proper track the multi-test process flow. I wrote detailed test procedures for both in house production testing and also at the contract manufacturers. This also included the test equipment documentation, troubleshooting procedures, and the parts, bill of materials(BOM). I also wrote detailed failure analysis reports for the failure modes and defective manufacturing process issues.

At Intel’s Telco design center I worked with both the hardware and firmware designers to verify and validate new hardware and firmware enhancements. At Lockheed Martin I wrote boundary scan software that tested the functionality of the circuit cards, for diagnosing faults to the component pin level, including utilizing logic analyzers, and remote logging during thermal testing. I developed a driver installation document for Linux drivers required for Red Hat OS needed for a Ethernet quick disconnect product. The projects included the avionics for the stealth helicopter Comanche, the Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP), and the Apache helicopter night vision and targeting system. I also wrote the troubleshooting requirement for the software/hardware test failures.

At Nortel I developed systems module testing that incorporated Power On testing and built in self tests, (BIST). I also generated manual, and simulated, digital in-circuit test pattern software for of a wide range of digital circuit cards that comprise the DMS100 and DMS10 central office telecom switches.

I have worked on a wide variety of teams from formulating entire manufacturing and test strategies to product cost reduction and process improvement.

As a senior Automatic Test Equipment test engineer I have performed design simulation, testability analysis, and manufacturability analysis. I developed parametrically and functional testing for many different technologies, using techniques such as boundary scan (JTAG), BIST(Built In Self Test), custom generated digital test vectors and dedicated GPIP/HPIP IEEE controlled measurement equipment ranging from DC to Ghz. Programming languages including Java, Python, C, C++, Cadence-Allegro, and National Instruments TestStand, Labview.

I have presented a technical white paper on high density test fixturing at Nortel Networks sponsored international seminar in Calgary, Canada.

I am also very experienced hardware interface test fixture designer ranging from mechanical, pneumatic, and vacuum.

As a new product introduction test engineer I authored, and maintained all ISO9000 required documents pertaining to the different test and quality analysis functions performed.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Sensus

Identified multiple firmware and hardware issues prior to customer release of their Handheld and device operating system firmware/softare saving thousands of dollars in customer iretyurns/ssues.

Elster Solutions

Designed two new product gas valve leak detection test systems for the Elster Amco Gas Meter Division. The battery powered RF activated valve is installed inside of a gas meter assembly. The test set detected a 0.5 liter per hour leak in 15 seconds, more than twice the regulation requirement. Worked with a tool designer in the machine shop to develop an electronically controlled pneumatic actuated mechanism and documented the test procedure and assembly, delivering on time and on budget. Also designed several assembly fixtures including strain gauge instrumentation. Developed the RF temperature calibration test plan, -30C to +60C, and programming for the drive-by gas meter, that recovered over 10,000 previously failed modules. Responsible for product support, including failure analysis, root cause analysis, and customer return support, RMA’s, for a dozen products ranging from RF interface electronic assemblies for RF Gas and Water battery powered metering devices, including the Elster Electric Meter Zigbee Option Board interface for in home displays. Also responsible for certifying functional compatibility for BlueLine and Aztec in- home electric usage monitoring devices. Responsible for engineering changes, ECs, officially documenting all component and test procedure changes for supported products. Generated weekly and monthly quality reports, in MSExel and MS Word from both in house manufacturing and contract manufacturers’ yields. Developed strong working relationships with the in-house and contract manufacturers engineering staff. Performed failure analysis identifying over 800 defective modules returns to the contract manufacturer for credit or repair in 2012.

Received 2 Patent Disclosure Awards.

Developed and supported functional test programs, and assembly procedures insuring ISO9000 quality standards for contract manufacturing at Aryshire Manufacturing-Corinth, Miss. and (CTL) Creation Technologies Lexington, Ky.

Developed National Instruments-TestStand/Labview product test programs.

As an Intel Telco-Server design team member I determined on a prototyped Ethernet Bypass product, a programmable controller PIC device had been incorrectly programmed during the manufacturing process. Correctly programming the device allowed the product to pass the design validation tests and a 2 cycle design cycle was accomplished on schedule. Performed design validation testing and design problem resolution on multiple products that ensured timely product release. Wrote a configuration document for other Intel groups to be able to install and run Redhat Linux functional test scripts with application specific drivers.

Working at Lockheed Martin I developed automated functional test programs and wrote complete suites of “C“ parsing programs, along with script command files to interpret results and compare values based on temperature that replaced manually operated test boxes requiring skill technicians. The required tests were reduced from 45 minutes to 15 minutes.

I have developed high volume test programs for products ranging from DC/DC linear, switching power supplies, battery charging, and monitoring circuits, telecom voice and data switching circuits. Utilizing Boundary Scan (JTAG) I have generated functional tests for A/D devices, microprocessors, controllers and memory devices.

Developed and supported production test programs for use at two different contract manufacturers. I was responsible for product support including evaluating component replacement due to obsolescence or supplier discontinuation. I performed component upgrades for improving product performance or cost. I upgraded the contract manufacturers test systems with WindowsXP computers. This allowed upgrading the software for decreased test time and increased the test coverage.

These tests were graded at greater than 90% component test coverage. I designed test adapters/fixtures for their CCATS (Common Core Automated Test System) custom tester based on Teradyne’s Spectrum9000 hardware platform using National Instruments (7.0CVI/3.0Teststand) and Teradyne Victory and TestStudio software.

Developed the electronic test programs in Orlando and integrated the new tests into their Ocala Fl. manufacturing testing facility. Assisted in debugging 9 duplicated functional test fixtures for the Lockheed Martin/Air Force-Warner Robins Depot effort which was delivered on time and on budget, including the deployment and training of the Warner Robins personnel. Developed for the ATP project automated failure-triggered troubleshooting diagnostic messaging and an automated troubleshooting tool for running individual tests.

Generated on the CCATS a fully automated functional microcontroller 30 minute test that replaced a manual functional test box that required a skilled technician and 45 minutes to perform. This microcontroller is the main control unit for the Apache helicopter Forward Looking Infra Red (FLIR) optics and targeting unit built by Lockheed Martin for the US Army.
