Objective: Senior Process Engineer/Project Manager

PROFILE

Possesses extensive global experience in all aspects of engineering and construction (E&C) operations, process support, basic engineering design (BED), and front end engineering design (FEED) within the oil and gas, petrochemical, refining, and specialty chemical industries. Adept at meeting the needs of internal and external customers; has worked with clients in the US, Croatia, Kuwait, Kazakhstan, and South Korea. Drives goal attainment by collaborating across disciplines to facilitate product development, implement technology solutions, streamline processes, and enhance productivity. Holds a master’s degree in chemical engineering. Bilingual: English/Croatian. Expertise spans:

Project Planning, Monitoring & Control Operations Management Change Management, Scheduling & Execution

Team Leadership & Mentoring Proposal Preparation Forecasting Quality Assurance

Process Simulations (Aspen+, PRO2, Hysis) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Terminals Design Solids Handling

Residuum Oil Supercritical Extraction (ROSE) Technology ROSE Unit Pre-Commissioning

Pipeline & Gathering Centers Hydrocracker, Hydrotreater & Olefins Design Methyl Tert-Butyl Ether (MTBE)

Ammonia & Syngas Technology TRIG Coal Gasification Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) Cause & Effect Diagrams

Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) Equipment Sizing PIPEPHASE Simulator Microsoft Project

RECENT EXPERIENCE

Technical Professional Leader, Process/Project Engineer, Kellogg Brown & Root (KBR), Texas, 2000 to 2016

Led up to eight engineering professionals in estimating, planning, and executing multiple projects, including ROSE, hydro-cracker (HCK), petrochemicals, coal gasification, fluid catalytic cracking (FCC), and aniline (BED and FEED packages). Provided expertise for process simulations, calculations of press relief loads for all over-pressure contingencies, and finalization of flare load summaries. Led PFD, P&ID, and hazard and operability study (HAZOP) meetings. Oversaw quality assurance of equipment data sheets, material selection diagrams, cause and effect diagrams, pressure safety valve (PSV) calculations, and safe-guarding memoranda. Ensured deliverables were generated on time.

Oversaw a project to connect a new ExxonMobil unit to the main process area of a low sulfur diesel hydro-treater and all associated off-sites with minimal documentation; partnered with staff at the client site over an extended period of time and identified documentation needed to resolve tie-in location issues, saving $25M through ahead-of-schedule, under-budget completion. Received a Letter of Recognition, Letter of Commendation, and Project Completion Bonus.

Acted as a project management liaison between the client (Dow Chemical and Saudi Aramco) and various licensors for the Ras Tanura FEED/project management contract (PMC) project. Supervised PFD and heat and material balance development. Oversaw licensors’ deliverables and the change process, saving an estimated $15M by ensuring client was charged according to contract scope. Assisted in planning, monitoring, and controlling major deliverables and their effect on project schedule.

Led a team of eight engineers from the China National Chemical Engineering Group in Inner Mongolia on the Boyuan Sunite coal gasification project, which entailed modifying an air-blown system to an oxygen-blown system to accommodate different plant configuration and equipment designs, within an aggressive timeframe. Established an over-pressure protection philosophy for a new oxygen-blown gasifier, which cut time to complete P&IDs and all associated documentation.

Completed the ROSE Licensed Basic Engineering Package (LBEP) project for Grupa Lotos in Poland in less than the industry standard timeframe by using a newly developed in-house software tool that increased productivity by linking simulation results and automatically inputting them into equipment data sheets.

Delivered estimated savings of ~$10M in one year by standardizing process data sheet structure for process equipment, which eliminated possible rework among engineers in high-value engineering centers worldwide.

RECENT EXPERIENCE, CONTINUED

Senior Process Engineer, TengizChevroil (Chevron), Kazakhstan, 1998 to 2000

Executed numerous improvement and expansion projects for a main oil and gas processing plant. Used PIPEPHASE simulation software to assess existing onshore piping, complex gathering systems, and single pipelines. Provided P&ID markups, line sizing, and pump specifications for various process engineering support projects. Designed a parallel pump system for transferring molten sulfur from a sulfur unit to sulfur pads.

Discovered pipeline bottlenecks based on increased wellhead flows and recommended piping changes with the potential to deliver $15M in savings.

Averted $2M in costs by confirming the reliability of an existing pump, preventing the need to purchase a new one.

Completed multiple small capex projects on schedule and within budget.

EARLY ROLES

Principal Process Engineer, Parsons Engineering Ltd., Kuwait

Served as an expert on multiple process studies for over-pressure protection of existing gas gathering centers. Contributed to a seawater injection project.

Process/Process Systems Engineer, M.W. Kellogg Company, Texas

Provided subject matter expertise for a wide range of projects, including ammonia, urea, pharmaceuticals, ethylene, and coal gasification. Earned a Recognition Award for the Texaco propylene oxide (PO)/MTBE project.

Quality Assurance Supervisor, Hoover Color Corporation, Virginia

Analyzed and eliminated bottlenecks in a raw sienna ore pneumatic conveying network. Established a relationship between the quality functions in the burnt sienna and kiln operations. Supervised three color lab personnel. Held responsibility for following up with statistical methods of quality control on a daily basis.

Plant Process Engineer, Ina Company, Croatia

Performed startup/shutdown operations and debottlenecking in a carbon black plant. Partnered with R&D engineers on technical process improvements. Addressed emergency situations.

CREDENTIALS

MBA candidate, expected graduation 2018, University of Houston Clear Lake, Texas
