Senior Accountant

Major Responsibilities:

Preparation of the monthly business unit’s / segment’s performance report by product and by location.

Financial planning and strategy in the long and medium term including budget control.

Allocating cost to strategic business units on a monthly basis, ensuring all indirect costs are shared appropriately

Effectively manage the tax exposure of the company, statutory return, audit and regulatory authority.

Management Accountant

Major Responsibilities:

Supervise client invoice generating and posting, ensuring delivery to clients on a T+3 basis and carry out periodic reconciliation on accounts receivable ledger. Also preparing periodic age analysis report on receivables.

Reconcile over 20 dividend collection accounts and prepare reconciliation statement report. Also investigating outstanding reconciling items and carrying out corrective actions by way of adjustment journals

Prepare monthly staff payroll, accounting for accrued and prepaid leave and medical allowances for staff as they occur and passing the necessary month end journals.

Reconciliation & management of fixed asset register which also includes asset depreciation reports. Ensuring posting of necessary journals for additions, disposals and write-off of fixed assets as they occur.

Controlling expenditure and forecasting income streams on a monthly basis as well as preparing monthly variance reports providing detailed explanations for any favorable or adverse variances.

Supervision of banking relationships – Ensuring that all transactions are treated correctly by the banks and monitoring compliance with agreed service level agreements

Computation of all interest income on all deposit investments. Ensuring that the banks comply with agreed interest/charges and promptly resolve any variance with the affected banks.

Preparation of audit schedules for all asset, income, expenditure and liability ledgers and providing explanations and additional information to external auditors where required.

Prepare monthly performance reports for onward submission to the parent company in order to produce monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements.

Carrying out periodic assessments of business, identifying potential business and finance risks and accurately notifying senior management for immediate action.

Produce timely month-end treasury reports (including bank reconciliation statements, customers account reconciliation, schedule of bank transfer, age analysis of debtors & pending reconciliation items) showing the trends and results of variables being monitored and verified by the treasury unit.

Monitor funds movements between bank accounts (e.g. interbank transfers) to ensure funds are made promptly available for investment and ensure that investment income is tracked.

Computation of monthly Value Added Tax (VAT), Withholding Tax (WHT) and Pay as you Earn (PAYE) tax and processing remittances to the appropriate tax offices as well as pension remittances, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations. Ensuring that the company is at no time exposed to late tax returns and suffers no penalty as a result.

Preparation of annual budgets – Income and expenditure budgets to reflect the company’s goals and objectives for the financial year as well as consistently monitoring performance and producing reports to inform senior management and the parent company.
