PROJECTS
Classical Controller Design and Implementation for A Gantry System Northeastern University Researcher and Team-leader Advisor: Dr. Nader Jalili Jan 2017-May 2017
• Developed and implemented a controller for positioning the gantry system which had a wide variety of industrial applications including tool and work-piece positioning
• Derived the complete linear system dynamics by determining the equations of motion for the electrical, mechanical and combined systems
• Used the dynamic equations to design a controller that is capable of bringing the experimental gantry system to the desired position while simultaneously minimizing the vibration of the pendulum
• Utilized the Laplace domain to design a PD controller and determined the coefficients KP and KD by Routh-Hurwitz, Root Locus, or Nyquist techniques
• Simulated the system in Simulink diagram by Matlab to get the proper KP, KD and other properties
• Operated the real system to achieve the desired performance according to the parameters we achieved before
