WORK EXPERIENCE
I am a qualified electrician class 1. I did my apprenticeship with National Railways of Zimbabwe from 1987-1991.Our training covered all aspects of power electrical engineering, diesel electrics, schematic drawings, electrical installations, wiring regulations and health and safety. On qualifying I worked as a maintenance electrician at the Mechanical Engineers Workshops in Bulawayo until 2010 when I left service. Area of responsibility included trouble shooting on semi and fully automated machinery, overhead cranes, welding machines, installations and electrical low voltage reticulation. I also did work on passenger coaches this included work on DC voltage, DC generators and batteries. In 2001 to 2002 did pioneering work on upgrading the passenger coach fleet to connect electrically with SA manufactured coaches. This project involved teamwork a lot of concentration especially in the preparatory stage until finally I had to coach fellow artisans and apprentices.
At other occasions acted Electrical foreman in the absence of incumbent. Also gave on job training to apprentices, trainee electrical engineers and semi skilled personnel .Received Hubert Davis award for best student in electrical engineering for period of training.
