PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Senior Consultant (2015 – Present) Intelligent Structures Inc., Winnipeg, MB, CA

Technical Scope: Wireless Modules, ZigBee Network, Monitoring System, Print Circuit Boards, Analog-Output Strain Sensors / LVDT / Temperature Sensors, Digital-Output Accelerometer, Analog to Digital Converters, ARM Cortex Processors, C++ firmware, USB / Serial / UART / I2C / SPI on-board interfaces, JTAG programming, GSM Gateways.

Created wireless modules for real-time structural health monitoring on Manitoba bridges which optimized Manitoba’s Infrastructure Department operations. Designed, planned and laid-out the Printed Circuit Board with electrical protections. Selected parts and materials to achieve the optimal cost/ reliability, assembled the parts and provided complete support and troubleshooting of the modules. Programmed the modules and the respective interfaces and then executed the test and validation using LAB tools. Wrote the C++ firmware to process, analyze and transmit the information to a transceiver. Created the prototype and prepared the product for the first production room detailing the bill of materials, parts and selected vendors. Led the team of field engineers to install the modules and created the instruction and operations manuals.

Key Achievements:

Significantly reduced the operational costs of the Manitoba Bridges Monitoring operations by independently developed Printed Circuit Board products for wireless monitoring. Implemented 20 modules on 2 bridges 2016 and 120 modules in 2017 on 12 bridges.

Research Scientist (2012 – 2016) University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, MB, CA

Technical Scope: Radio Frequency Capacitance Sensors, Microwave Capacitance Sensors, Printed Circuit Boards, Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Sensors, Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits.

Developed a Radio Frequency Chip using capacitance sensors for monitoring mammalian cells (CHO Cells) in the apoptosis process. Designed and created a Radio Frequency and a Microwave Capacitance Sensor on Printed Circuit Boards. Designed, simulated, and laid-out, Design Rule Check (DRC) and Layout Versus Schematic (LVS) for the Radiofrequency customized Analog mixed signal Complementary Metal–Oxide–Semiconductor Capacitance Sensors and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems Sensors. Collaborated and supported electrical, physics, and biochemical engineering assistants in the experiments. Executed experiments, collected data and analyzed the results.

Key Achievements:

Proved a completely integrated RF capacitance sensor design idea on the chip. The GHz CMOS capacitance sensor has the highest integration density to date at lowest technology cost.

Created a creative design approach for optimal noise and sensitivity by designing differential tapered-ring-oscillator based sensor architecture.

Authored 5 high impact factor journals and created various renowned conference papers.

Hardware Engineer (2009 – 2011) Yaran Behgozin Parsa Co., Tehran, Iran

Technical Scope: C++, PCBs, GPUs, Serial Communications, Simulations, LabVIEW.

Led a team of 10 workers in the design and production of various vacuum pressure measurement products like Active Pirani, Penning and Wide Range Vacuum Gauges. Developed the gauge controllers with graphical user interface and serial communication. Created the PCBs (at the system level) with processing/signal conditioning/filters/power management/HV supply unit. Designed and built several prototypes and prepared the bill of materials, recommended parts, preferred vendors and troubleshoot documents for the first production run. Used LabVIEW as an interface to communicate the C++ code to the main controller. Documented and created all technical documentation including patents.

Key Achievements:

Developed 3 different successful vacuum sensors in less than one year, and they were quickly acquired by more than 10 clients.

Customer Support Engineer (2005 – 2005) Canaca-Com Inc., Isfahan, Iran

Technical Scope: UNIX

Supported the web hosting company customers with hosting issues, such as problems with their websites, emails, etc. The hosting servers and all operations were done in Linux. Timely responded all customers’ requests either via phone or email. Started a knowledge base of the position by creating various technical documentation and quickly resolved various issues using the current knowledge.

Production Line Worker (2004 – 2004) Iranhood Co., Tehran, Iran

Successfully performed the assigned tasks and collaborated with the kitchen hoods assembly line, consistently met all schedules and assigned production output in a fast paced environment. Accurately operated lathes and automated press lines.
