Create strategy, initiate sourcing selections, and manage buying decisions for 6MM pistons for Stihl plants located in the US, China, Brazil and Germany.

Managed the purchasing for Aluminum and Magnesium die castings including pistons, engine covers and various other components totaling in excess of 15MM parts.

Managed sourcing for piston rings, MIM (Metal Injection Molding) and PM (Powder Metal) engine components including crankshaft counter weights, connecting rods, sprockets, gears, cam followers and other components totaling in excess of 20MM parts.

I held various positions during the 8 years I was employed in the Joint Venture between Ford Motor Company and ZF Getriebe GmbH which was called Batavia Transmissions.

Batavia Transmissions L.L.C. was a joint venture in 1999 between Ford Motor Company and Zahnrad Fabrik, a well-respected company based in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Ford purchased ZF’s 51% of the Joint Venture in 2004 becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company.

Purchasing Manager - Batavia, OH 2007 – 2008

Selected to manage the purchasing for all Aluminum and steel castings, forgings, stampings, machined parts, rubber, electronic, and plastic parts.

Managed the annual production commodities purchasing budget in excess of $300MM.

Managed continuous supply of production parts, developed and maintained partner relationships with over 66 suppliers.

Maintained supply of 197 made to print production components for the current transmission.

Utilized SAP to create RFO’s, PO’s, scheduling agreements, T&C’s vendor information records and monitor flow of products from incoming through to production, including accounts payable.

Negotiated over $2.8MM in obsolescence claim cost savings.

Decommissioned plant while ramping down production, ensuring suppliers produced required amount of local and international service components while protecting for daily supply of production components and closely monitor obsolescence costs

Quality Engineering Supervisor - Batavia, OH 2006 – 2007

As the QE Supervisor, it was my job to determine if the quality of our transmissions was up to the rigorous standards required by the company. If I determined they were than the daily output would be loaded aboard a train and sent to the final assembly plant, if not they would be quarantined and it was my teams job to analyze root cause.

Supervised five UAW Skilled Trades Technicians in disassembling transmissions to find root cause of warranty return transmissions, and two UAW Skilled Trades Mechanics that remove and install transmissions in vehicles for test drives.

Managed one salaried Analyst that interfaced with Ford Service garages throughout the US and China with warranty issues and one salaried Analyst responsible for determining root cause of daily production issues for three different style transmissions.

Utilized Six-Sigma problem solving techniques to help define, measure, analyze, improve and control quality with the production of transmissions and in dealing with supplier quality issues.

Electronic Commodities Buyer - Batavia, OH 2004 – 2006

Source suppliers and purchase all electronic components and Aluminum castings for the Ford CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) and CD4E (4 speed automatic transmission).

Successfully increased transition of sourcing to LCC (Low Cost Countries) by 34%.
