Operations Maintenance Coordinator – Industrial Utilities

Worked in cohesion with the Planning and Reliability departments to develop a robust six week schedule for the Industrial Utilities maintenance execution team.

Manage and plan all maintenance break in work. Walked down each of the job scopes, planned the work and arranged the proper services to ensure work is executed within the nine day window.

Operations lead for majority of the MOCs in the area. Responsible for ensuring all tasks were completed from each of the required stakeholders in the appropriate timeframe. Accountable to present updates to management on a weekly basis.

Provided technical oversight to the Operations team. Participated in project discussions, operating decisions and weekly scheduling meetings to ensure the right priorities were met for the business unit.

Managed maintenance contractors. Ensured all contractors adhered to all the Suncor rules and regulations and understand and meet the required job scopes. Participated in all contractor related incident investigations and ensured contractors developed adequate recommendations to prevent any further incidents.

Worked as cover/relief maintenance supervisor of union employees. Prepared and executed daily toolbox talks, completed work place safety observations, assigned work and ensured work was completed efficiently and effectively. Managed union vacation schedules, dealt with conflict when necessary and ensured equal treatment among workers.

Developed a procedure and isolation plan to shut down and purge the natural gas system in order to complete ABSA inspection on the natural gas knock out drum. Walked down the entire system, developed hazardous energy isolation plan, calculated the purge requirements and worked in cohesion with a contractor to develop safe work plan and maintenance procedure.

Intermediate Process Engineer – Primary Upgrading

Participated in the site wide Upgrader turnaround. Worked alongside Operations and Reliability to develop inspection scopes. Completed process internal inspections of distillation columns, coker furnaces, heat exchangers and multiple other process vessels. Developed process inspection reports. These reports included process recommendations on how to improve overall reliability and efficiency within the process units.

Monitored process parameters on a daily basis. Provided process recommendations to Operations to ensure daily target of 135,000 barrels/day was met.

Spearheaded the development of Technical Operating Limits in the Coker plant. Used the information provided from the community of practice to develop technical operating limits for all the process equipment in the operating plant. Worked in cohesion with Operations and Reliability to optimize the values and develop guidelines for the control room operators to make changes to ensure they adhere to the process parameters.

Worked alongside Alberta environment and Suncor Environmental department team to provide updates for emissions reporting and loss of primary containment incidents.

Process representative in the furnace tube failure investigation. Analyzed all the process furnace tube data for the past five years in respect to pigging cycles. Worked alongside Electrical Reliability, supplier of thermocouples and Operations to design shields for thermocouples to ensure accurate readings. After investigation was completed designed an automated spreadsheet to predict furnace outage

dates for pigging.

Process Contact Engineer – Primary Extraction

Accountable for providing troubleshooting and process-related technical support for the Plant 300 bitumen extraction plant. Tasks include ensuring KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) are met and assets are operated within safe operating limits while maximizing throughput.

Daily collaboration with interdisciplinary groups on investigations and optimizations, implementation of findings, validation of improvement initiatives, and communication of the results to the cross functional team.

Initiate process related studies to optimize Plant 300 production. Develop business cases along with technical reports to support operational changes.

Implement changes to existing control logic and develop conditional process alarms using the Management of Change system to mitigate the number of alarms in Plant 300.

Provided technical expertise and direction in support of continuous improvement initiatives in the Primary Extraction Cross Functional Team.

Responsible for the development and maintenance of process contact engineering manual, PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets and month-end key performance indicator reports on production, budget, safety, and reliability.

Provided coverage as the interim process engineering manager of the primary extraction plants and core member of the primary extraction cross functional team.

Process Contact Engineer – Energy & Utilities

• Monitor process parameters on a daily basis to provide structured technical support and solutions in identifying, investigating and troubleshooting plant operating problems.

• Report KPIs and provide process parameters for production planning. Develop process recommendations to Operations on a daily basis to adhere to KPIs set by Steam Cross Functional Team.

• Performed site wide steam balances for the oil sands site. Worked in cohesion with downstream process contact engineers to ensure the Suncor site wide energy system was optimized. Provided recommendations to Operations during upset conditions to mitigate downstream production impacts.

• Provided process support for a third party company to develop an Aspentech Utilities model to predict the steam requirements across the oil sands site. Responsible for completing the data revalidation, to ensure the model was accurate.

• Supported the 2013 Turnaround at Oil Sands. Worked alongside Operations to develop shut down/ start up schedules for the utility boilers and power generators to ensure site wide steam and power requirements were upheld during various phases of the shutdown/ start up.

• Process lead in all PHA (Process Hazard Analysis) studies for the steam assets. Worked with cross boundary team members to develop recommendations to ensure all process equipment adhered to the Suncor safety requirements. Presented recommendations to senior management teams.

• Developed and stewarded safe operating limits to ensure safe efficient operation within environmental and regulatory approval limits.

• Provided technical expertise and direction in support of continuous improvement initiatives in the Steam Cross Functional Team.

• Responsible for the development and maintenance of process contact engineer manual, PFDs, P&IDs, data sheets and month-end key performance indicator reports on production, budget, safety, and reliability.
