Manufacturing Engineer that supported the sheet metal department that supplied sheet metal components for the manufacture of water source heat pumps for commercial and residential applications.

Responsible for maintaining the manufacturing operations and engineering document data base, includes work instruction, work sequence cards and all forms used on the production floor.

Wrote and revised work instructions for the production floor.

Specified, purchased new Spot welding machine to replace two older machines that did not meet safety standards.

Project lead in continuous improvement project in the sheet metal department that improved process flow by 25% and reduced sheet metal scrap by 5% which resulted in a savings of $20K/month.

Manufacturing engineer that supported 12 production lines that produced marine air condition systems, air handlers, chilled water units and engine room ventilation.

Responsible for all production equipment including refrigerant charging machines, Nitrogen and helium leak detection equipment, automated testing equipment.

Supervised the condenser coil bending department.

Implemented the change from Copper/Cupronickel condenser coil to the Copper/Titanium on the production floor

Manage the product development of new cooking category products from the beginning of the design phase to the release for mass production at the contract manufacturing factory. From 10/2009 to present have managed the development of 36 products ranging from type 3 to type 6.

Created and managed all the product development schedules.

Coordinated all development activities between Russell Hobbs and the contract manufacturer from the design phase to the through the implementation phase and mass production, ensuring all deliverables are provided at the correct times to complete the projects on schedule.

Troubleshoot all problems that the contract manufacturing has providing solutions for implementation.

Managed the ECR/ECN process for all cooking category products.

Coordinated with Quality/Safety group to ensure all new products meet all quality and safety requirements as per Black & Decker trademark requirements and UL regulations.

Job duties included: Support the production floor that produces Chlorine generators for pool sanitation, resolve and correct all production floor quality issues and vendor related quality issues. Provide manufacturing input to the design process for new products. Design all production and Quality test fixtures for all current and new products.

Created all existing product work instructions for production lines, maintained all work instructions.

Submit, process and implement all Product Change Authorizations.

Implement all 5S and lean manufacturing plans on the production floor.

Engineering Manager – King of Fans, Inc., Ft. Lauderdale, FL – 3/2006 to 7/2007

Job duties included: R&D of new products and technologies for overseas manufacturing. Develop new technologies into new consumer products and bring them to market. Managed one mechanical engineer and two industrial designers, who created new products in ceiling fans, solar and low voltage lighting, commercial solar panels, interior and exterior lighting, high velocity fans and heaters sold primarily by The Home Depot.

Reviewed all overseas engineering designs and production products for cost reductions and quality issues.

Maintained all existing company patents, submitted 8 new patents.

Investigated all QC problems in the field, developed and implemented CAPA’s at the overseas factory in response to the QC problems in the field.

Worked with oversea manufacturer of electric motors to develop a brushless DC motors for use in ceiling, substantially reducing the energy consumption of a ceiling fan.

Researched and developed a patented technology to reduce the amount of copper wire used in a ceiling fan motor. Generated a cost/benefit analysis for implementing the new motor design. Negotiated the rights to the patent with the inventor. Tested and implemented the technology. Expected cost savings of 4 million dollars annually in copper used in ceiling fan motors.

Reviewed all current ceiling fan product lines and found 2 million in cost savings.

Sr. Manufacturing Engineer – WaterPik Technologies, Ft. Lauderdale, FL – 5/2004 to 2/2006

Job duties included: Support the production floor that produces Pool Heat Pumps for pool heating and cooling, resolve and correct all production floor quality issues and vendor related quality issues. Provide manufacturing input to the design process for new products. Design all production and Quality test fixtures for all current and new products.

Implemented cost reductions and streamlining of the production floor

Reduced the size of the heat pump production line by 50%.

Managed the Deviation and Engineering Change Notice program for the Ft. Lauderdale facility.

Developed and maintained the quality program.

Moved heat exchanger production line from Jacksonville to Ft. Lauderdale. Trained all production personnel on new manufacturing processes used in the heat exchanger.

Developed quality plan for the new heat exchanger product line.

Project Manager for a new automated coil bending machine, develop cost/benefit analysis, work with vendor in design of the bender and develop operating instruction for the coil bender.
