Through careful listening and analysis, guide the client through the process of articulating the scope, programmatic requirements, and budget requirements. Conduct extensive research and analysis of the building site in terms of its legal constraints, geology, topography, and ecology to develop the context for the formal strategy. Through an iterative design process using both drawings and models (physical and digital), develop creative conceptual and formal designs that address the clients’ programmatic requirements and express a clear architectural intention in relation to the site. Responsible for production of complete drawing sets throughout all phases of architectural projects including: schematic design, design development, architectural reviews, building permit submittals, and construction documents (including details).
In collaboration with contractors and consultants, ensure that the architectural design is technically and functionally correct while searching aggressively for opportunities to improve building performance in terms of energy and resource efficiency that also reduce construction or operating costs. Contract administration including observation of construction in the field and creation and coordination of contractor RFIs for projects ranging in scale from a playhouse ( $35,000) to new residences ($1.6 million).
