CAREER FOCUS

Currently I am working in Keppel shipyard as a HSE Technician since 2009. Basically I have done mechanical engineering from India, recently I completed Advance diploma in WSH from NTUC Learning Hub Singapore. I have worked mainly in Conversion project vessels

(FSO MAYUMBA in 2013, FPSO MASSANGO in 2012, FPSO OSX -1 in 2011 etc…)

At present I am working in conversion of Rig- “BOSS-1” to Mobile Offshore Production Unit by ensuring safe work practices are carried out in all operations and inspect the hot work location and approve the hot work permits during the conversion period.

WORKING EXPERIENCE

Job scope:

Assist to the HSE Officer in ensuring that all employees comply with the safety legislation and in-house rules and regulations to achieve and incident free work environment.

Ensure safe work practices are carried out in all operations and stop work where conditions or practices are unsafe.

Enforce all safety legislation and in-house HSE rules and regulations.

Investigate accident and near misses and recommend corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.

Liaise with section Manager/Foreman on the corrective actions taken to prevent reoccurrence of similar accident

Keep proper accident records and statistics for vessel

Conduct regular HSE inspection of the shipyard premises and on vessel for the purpose of identifying unsafe work practices and improving working conditions.

Enforce fire prevention program on board vessel

Control and supervise fire fighting, rescue and pollution operations

Conduct HSE induction for ship personnel and owner appointed contractors or specialist prior to commencing work on board vessel

Conduct inspection of hot work locations and endorse the permit-to-work for hot work and other hazardous operations

Act as secretary for the daily vessel safety coordination committee (VSCC) meeting and record minutes of meeting

Conduct Toolbox meeting weekly in order to communicate WSH information’s with engineers, supervisors and workers on the ground and constantly updating them with latest safety knowledge

Job scope:

Assist to the HSE supervisor/ HSE technician in daily enforcement on board vessel

Ensure the fire fighting and safety equipment that are provided on board the vessel and kept in good working condition

Ensure that safety and fire prevention equipment are promptly rigged upon vessel arrival and similarly removed prior to vessel departures

Carry out regular fire prevention and safety patrol on board vessel

Monitor the compliance with the HSE management system by the workforce working on board vessel

Perform fire fighting, rescue and oil pollution operations when the needs arise

Conduct regular gas monitoring of confined spaces and update status on the confined space status chart.

Ensure the update confined space status chart and appropriate safety sign are displayed at entrance of the confined spaces.

Conduct frequent patrol at critical hot work areas on board vessel and ensure that dedicated fire watchman has been deployed. Equipped with portable fire extinguisher or charged fire hose

Ensure general housekeeping on board vessel is maintained at all times and passageways and emergency exit are keep clear of obstruction

Conduct HSE enforcement and take disciplinary action against recalcitrant safety offender

Perform fire fighting and rescue operations as directed by the HSE officer or HSE supervisor
